A friend of mine called me yesterday to tell me about a garge sale near him I needed to go to, but I got his voicemail message too late to go. I took a trip (16miles) this morning and was impressed with the sale. It was all guy stuff Old car parts, tractor parts, tools. I went away with: Matched set of Illinois tags 1917, 1931, 1938 Appleton S550 6v spotlight Stromberg M1 br*** carburator Door mirror and a really neat eagle shaped radiator cap. Any idea what the carburator or radiator cap is off of?
Nice haul!! Can't help ID your stuff, but **** like that is why I LOVE garage sales. You never know what you'll score. I found an NOS front grille panel for a '42-7 Ford truck at one last month.
All about being lucky. Best I've done recently was a pair of very nice slot mags at a small yard sale across the street from a big barn auction. My pal is forever bringing home half an Edelbrock motor. You know, 600 cfm Edel carb, Performer intake, Rocker covers and sometimes block huggers. All for SBC of course and at a helluva price usually. I think the gods are screwing with him though. He's running SBF now and can only use the SBC stuff for trades and can't find SBF stuff at swaps or garage sales....
Damn, the coolest thing I ever saw at a garage sale was the householders half naked wife! Great score man! Doc
My guess would be that one was mounted on the front on the radiator grill shell. Nice haul. everything around here seems to be baby clothes too. I did find some Bilstein jacks for 50 cents each at a flea market this morning.
2 weeks ago i found a 31 A Tudor body fenders and some misc. stuff in a garage sale 2500 bucks for it all.
Radiator cap is probably and accessory auto parts store piece. Lots of patriotic items like that were made during and after WW I, which matched the date of the top pair of plates. Really expensive to rechrome that old pot metal.
