My father (an old car guy) passed away unexpectedly. He wanted cremated so when it came time to pick out his urn. We decided to use a porcelain 1950 ford woody wagon. Spent most of the funeral expaining that to non car people. Oh well. I know that my HAMB friends will understand. rip goodspeed.

Condolences. I just finished an urn for my best friend who passed very suddenly. non car people think we are crazy putting his ashes in a ford hub cap, but thats what we did... We also put a pinch of ashes in the gas tanks of all three of his cars, per his wishes!!!!!

I am truly sorry for your loss. I lost my father a couple years ago and it still hurts. The good thing is that I smile about him more then I cry which means I had some really great times with him. I think you will have the same. The urn is something for you to remember your father. He's in a better place looking down and he's proud.

  16. Sorry for your loss. We're going to a service for the dad of a friend this afternoon. Good on ya for choosing that particular urn. As was said, it's a private thing for you. It's a fond reminder of what you shared. RIP Dad.

My condolences to you and your family. I lost the old man a couple of years ago to lung cancer. This might sound silly to some, but as a kid we would be rolling along in his '55 Fairlane and Dave Dudley's "Six Days On The Road" would come on, he would turn it all the way up and we'd both sing along and have a good laugh. I have Steve Earle's version of it, and everytime I listen to it, I cherish that time and remember how much he taught me.

Your memorial is more than fitting, its just like that song between me and the old man. For some reason, I can't help but think he's singing along up there with me while I'm singing along with Steve.

I attended (and played the bagpipes) at a Funeral for a good friend last week. He had to bury his Son 3 years ago. Real heartbreaker. I had someone say to me at the service that it seems there are a lot of folks passing away these days, lots of funerals and lots of great people moving on. I replied, 'I don't think more folks are moving on, we're just old- wait until we get real old.'

Unexpected loss is tough. Hope you are finding the Solace you need in all the great memories I'm sure you have between you and your Father.

Sorry for your loss. The old car saying "If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand" fits here as well.

A buddy of mine, old cowboy, was cremated and his widow was faced with picking something sutable. Finally used one of his old boots. They later took it to the top of the old windmill at the farm and scattered them as was his wish.

Sounds like you did dad proud.

Sorry about your Pop's, but at least you had many great years with him, and the knowledge you have is because of him. Pay him the proper respects and get out there in one of his old cars and drive......
