What a beautiful way to honor your father and what he loved. I'm sure he appreciates it. Prayers are with you and your family.

I lost my father in '77. He promised to start going to car shows when he retired and never got the chance. Be thankful for the time you had with him.

Sorry to hear about your dad but it looks like he has a fine final ride.

Dad passed away 6 years ago and his ashes are in the wall at Tahoma National cemetery.

One of my good friends and sailing mentors passed away last year and we gave him a loud send off at Port Townsend last August.

We had a dab of his ashes in each of thirteen cannons per his daughters wishes and we fired them off at high noon.

  5. My prayers are with you brother. I think that is an amazing idea for an urn.

  6. I am terribly sorry for your unexpected loss; may your father's soul rest in peace. I think you made a good choice with the woody wagon urn and the folks at the funeral that did not understand must not have known about your dad's passion for classics. Although I do not know you or your father, I think it was a very honorable tribute.

  11. I lost mine in '71. Before that it was go karts and motorcycles and midgets and great times. There is a special place in heaven for hot rod dads. You are a better person for having known him.

  16. My hotroddin' dad passed away unexpectadly 3 days after Christmas this past year.
Terrible to hear of your loss. May he rest in peace. Keep puttin the rubber to the road for him. And the woody sounds like a keen idea. RIP

  17. I can't add anything to this other than to offer my sincerest condolences to you and your family. Lost my father in '78,and not long prior to that,we had almost done a car together. I had found(in '76) a '66 Belvedere II Hemi car in the northern Ohio area;he wanted to do a '55 Buick(like one he had owned before) and neither came to fruition. Glad you had the love of kool cars to share.

  18. My condolences - sounds like a cool sendoff for a cool guy from a cool family.

I've been there too........ always a tough deal. As for the explaining, my Dad wanted to go out in a cardboard box. I'm serious !! Got the next best thing....... a shoe box type thing from the mortuary guy, who was not happy. Cost of the box $24.00 The smile on my Dads face up there in hot rod heaven....... well you know !!!

    Good job Son !! RIP

  22. My condolences on the loss of your Dad. My Dad passed in '89. He wasn't much of a car guy, but I remember him asking me if he could bet some money on my friend's 406 Ford in an up-coming street race.
Although I didn't realize it at the time,I guess he was always listening.:)
