    Hi
Had a question asked by a friend, can a 57 Chevy truck cab be used in place of a 58? will the later sheetmetal/gl*** bolt to it?

    Thanks

55 second series to 59 are the same as well as gmc but the gmc has a different dash around gauge cluster.

I interchanged the front end of a '58 GMC onto a '59 Chevy, everything bolted exactly the same. The best part was that the Chevy grille bolted right in place of the uglier (IMO) GM piece. All differences in the cabs are in the interior, or back window.

55-57 cabs are mostly the same, 58-59 are mostly the same as each other, but not quite the same as 55-57. Changes are minor....you can't fit a 58-59 electric wiper motor into a 55-57 cab, hood hinge bolt holes are different starting in 58, door striker holes changed in 59, heater holes changed a couple times, the ones for the deluxe heater are the same but the holes for the recirculating heater are different. Later cabs don't have the hole in the floor for the gas tank drain plug, or the pivot for mounting the gas pedal. There may be more minor differences.

But yeah, you can swap them without too much trouble.

I used a 55 cab for a 58 build, I used parts of the firewall from the 58 to patch the holes for the heater in the 55 cab. Now I am starting on the interior and would like to use the 58 gas pedals, but I don't have a mounting reference as the entire front of the floor was completely rotted out in the 58 cab. Can someone post some pictures of where to mount the gas pedal in the 55 cab to use the pedal and linkages from my original 58 cab.

    Thanks!

Exactly right. Also, the cabs are the same from 1/2 ton pickup up to at least 2 ton big trucks. I'm using a 59 Chevy 60 series grain truck cab, to replace the original one on my 55 Cameo. The differences were what Sqirrel mentioned. I did have to change the 59 cab to a big back window, but that is a Cameo thing. The later cabs seem to have been better quality from the factory too. The door, fender fit on my original cab was TERRIBLE, even before it was totalled. :(

Can someone post some pictures of where to mount a 1958 gas pedal?

I have a 1955-57 cab that I'd like to mount the gas pedal and linkage from a 58 truck. The floor from my 58 cab was completely rotted and I don't know where it was mounted.

Can someone post a picture of the stock gas pedal location on a 58-59 chevy cab?
