I broke off a short head bolt tearing down my '56 324 Olds.
I thought I might just replace them all with ARP bolts.
I contacted them and they did not know what I needed.
Can somebody suggest a retail dealer that might know what
    a '56 Olds is?
    Thanks!

ARP will supply you with whatever you need as long as you have all the specs. Diameter, length, thread pitch, and how long is the threaded part. If you gonna replace them all just measure them as you pull them. I'd figure about $5 a bolt though.

Yeah ARP emailed me a spec sheet to fill out for what I wanted and
it asked for things that I have no way to determine.
I was kind of hoping there would be a retail dealer out there that already
knew the details needed for the '56 Olds engine.
I bet Heathen or Don Wow might know source and details.

Maybe you could take a bolt to the local Ace hardware store to determine the size and pitch (compare it to bolts in their bins). Lengths you can measure. Only other thing you might need to know is the grade.

I am probably wrong, this sounds too simple....

    Oops, added... head type...

i went to a fastener company with my old head bolts (55 olds 324) and the set me up with stage 8 bolts. inexpensive and they do the trick. not as high tensile as arp but 1/2 the price

The goatropper guy has them i bet.

  8. Depending on which bolt you broke, some Nailhead bolts fit.

Probably lots of good candidates at the junkyards.
