Hey I was wondering what muffler has the best rapping tone on a chev 235 with split headers, I was thinking either smithy's or cherry bombs, but not sure which or what length of muffler either, I appreiciate any help thanx
I'd go with the cherry bomb glasspacks,go with the shortest ones and mount them up as close to the engine as you can!
right on! so as close to the engine as possible, any suggestions on tubing diameter, should I still go with pencil tips too?
you wanna rapp loud with a 6 pin? Steel packs are loud as all hell. You can get em from Chrome-it, or Night Prowlers. Go with 1 7/8 inch pipes. It's all about exhaust gas velocity, the smaller the pipes, the faster the air will flow through, and the closer the muffler to the motor, the faster the air will pass through. If you really wanna get crazy, grab a cherry bomb or steel pack, cut a section out of it and weld em back together to get em as short as you want. Remove the packing to be especially obnoxious. This works, my buddy's flat 6 will make your ears ring. -'57 Joe
on my six im going to run 1 3/4 pipes.one pipe is going to be straight no muf at all and the other is going to ha a smitty close to the motor.some old guy told me thats they you really get it to rappppppp.
