I have a '50 Lincoln and I need to change it over to disc on the front. Does any body have information on this swap?
Lots of places (well, maybe a couple) do this now. Just tell 'em it's a merc! Jamco, for one. Maybe SSBC. Search on here for Merc disc brakes. I got mine made by Precision Brake Co in Ashland, OR. Aluminum hats are held to the back of the stock hub flange with wheel studs. Those hold a 12.75" rotor. The caliper bracket is held by the two forward bolts on the spindle and those hold a wilwood superlite that fits behind a 15x6 steel wheel. I use the Fatman M/C adapter that mounts a dual chamber in the stock location using the stock pedal.
I got some big Bronco 4WD ('78 - '80?? can't remember) front disc brake rotors, they will slip on the original hub. Nice, thick, vented rotors. Gonna make me some brackets to adapt one of the D52 GM calipers. Not too tough I would think. K
hey Keith...how well did the swap work for you?? Any pics that could be posted? What is a D52 caliper? any info would help. Thanks
