Event Coverage KKOA Salina KS, it's getting closer...

As if all of the official festivities are not enough there are some other things to do in Salina that weekend.

- Food
If you have not gone there yet, go get a bag of Cozy Inn burgers, cl***ic onion laden sliders that stink soooooo good.
Martinellis Italian Food, good portions, good food
Napolis Same as above (even though the owners of the previous place are friends of mine I think the food is better here)
Santa Fe Phillies a friend of mine's joint, good food and prices
Jim's Chicken well...um... good chicken
Scheme Pizza Good pizza, no CC accepted, oddly enough checks are...go figure
Chile Peppers GREAT mexican food, more Mex than Tex closest to authentic Mexican food you can get in this area.
Hickory Hut BBQ Mmmmmmmmmmmmm soooooooo goooooooooood

Of course the normal chain stores are all on the south end of town, Chilis, Applebees, Red Lobster, etc. but why would you want to travel and eat someplace that you have at home?

- A few places to have a drink, all bars in Salina are now smoke free, Paramount Bar a personal favorite, the owner is a close friend of mine, usually live music on the weekends and a nice patio out back
Maggie Maes - Great bar food, lots of bikes, pool tables
Speakeasy - Nice vibe, great patio, I have not tried the food yet
Inferno - Okay so it's a dance club that I DJ at, but we do have drinks, no cover and a very nice vibe. I don't start the dance music until later in the evening so if you're not into that atmosphere come down early, doors open at 8pm.

- Lyle Lovett in concert 8PM Saturday Night at the historic Stiefel Theatre (I do work there most shows but I will probably be skipping this one due to one of my other jobs and the KKOA show)


If you're staying on the south side of town, there are 3 ways to get to the show location.
-Take 9th street all the way. old 81 highway through town 30mph almost all the way, mostly shaded residential street
-Broadway, splits off from 9th street and rejoins near the north end of town, 40mph
-I-135 to I-70 to north 9th, well what is there to say, they're interstates
I'll post again if I can think of anything else. I don't know if I'll have my 63 Galaxie at the show yet or not, I need to get my Civic ready to sell and may not have time to do some work to the Galaxie.

 

Do you plan on going up with us? The plan is, we are meeting Yblock292 at the colisum Friday @ 10:00 am thanks for the road avice we will take the road probably on the way home.

Kan't wait to get up there next weekend.

I've been to a lot of bigger shows in the Mid West but this is by far the largest
gathering of Kustoms that you will see. I excepect 700 to 800 kool entires.

Maggie Mae's is also having their annual Thunder Weekend the same time as the car show. It's probably going to be packed with bikes, and they'll be having live bands Friday and Saturday night.

 

Me and the rest of the Bone Heads will be there. We are headin out early Friday. Look forward to seein everybody there.

 

I don't have a room yet, so if someone wants to split one or has an extra, let me know.

For anyone showing up on Thursday there is a weekly cruise night that gathers at the Wendy's on the south end of town, cruises around the town (or sometimes county) and ends up at the Dairy Queen on 9th Street downtown. Usually they gather up around 6pm I believe, but since I don't get off of work until 6 I'm never there when it starts.

Hey Aarron...I have 2 xtra rooms at the headquarters hotel(Best Western on 9th). One room you could split with another guy,...or one for the family and/or wife?
