I had a front wheel bearing seize on me over the weekend. The bearings are easy to replace, but I fear that the spindle is pretty toasted and thus far have had no luck locating one in the hotrod parts warehouses. Does anyone know where to find a new one or know of someone who clipped there truck and might have a spindle from their old straight axle?

    Thanks

I imagine that they are, but does anyone know if gmc and chevy spindles are the same? or if a set from a 46 will fit?

Not sure if they are the same. Check www.stovebolt.com someone there should have what you need.

Yes, GMC and Chevy used the same Steering Knuckles, as GM calls them.

For the 1/2 ton truck there were two types:
    46-50 with huck brakes
    51-57 with bendix brakes

I just replaced mine on my 52 1/2 ton.
You can have them if you pay for shipping, but you will need to ream them for oversized king pins as they are worn out.

  5. Try Patricks. If he doesnt have one, he could point you in the right direction for sure.

Road runner, I'll pass on your set though I definitely appreciate the offer. Just curious though where you ended up finding your replacement set?
i've called a ton of places and have found two places that claim to each have at least one. One guy has an NOS part but is looking for $265 per side, which is way more then I was looking to spend. The other guy quoted 50 but needs to pull it off a truck. I guess its all just another reason I should have clipped the front when I had the chance.
