Projects ratpink,,,buick chop&swap,,,,,

first i wanna say thanks ,to every body who helped me do this!!!!!!
and my dad for pushing me!!!!!since last fall,my car has been getting a lot of help from my friends.bob drone- gave me his frame he had built at so cal speed shop clip, bags and rear trailing arms to a nine inch.Steve moal custom built a arms with willwood disc brakes!THANK YOU bob your the best!!!!!!and since then its been on,
young fory of the hamb and i went to the koolest period hotrod shop in southern Oregon,to see what they call "doing the lords work" had yielded! the 57 olds roof chopped on my 56 buick!bill sholenberg and his crew were inspired and helped out !they went beyond the call of duty and gave the roof the right chop,thanks bill,hatch,and dj you guys are so talented!
after hours on the phone with bill reasnor for advice tips and every other question under the sun! even called to talk to johnny d & oz about advice,and some help from some hambers---chopedolds,bulletman,and twochops!chopping up a few donners ,six months or so, a little father son bonding and a lot of long sleep less nights! the chops and swap is done! and i couldn't be happier !

two1/2 in the front, back window has none but 4in were taken out of the crown,and from the top of the door to the gutter 3in!


and the pinks stays!
lost art was the koolest kustom buick ever and it was pink!
it stays pink for joe! hes a hero of mine!

Its hard to believe that's the same Buick I first saw with 3 shades of primer, but always had that sweet Nailhead purr, wrenchin in front of the corner-house. Good god, Cadi!

 

Nice nice job Cadi. My buddy is building a 56 Buick right now and he will stroke out when I send him the link to this. His is pink and white, but he insists it's some color called Tropical Coral I think, but we all call it pink
Anyway, great job. Cant wait to see more pictures

humboldtcat-welcome back buddy!i think the last count was 22 shades of rattel can!you got to count all the naked ladies,flames and stripping.you got pics of that? this is the oldest pic i!got!

nowaxn5-your right i should share with the class,
so the old roof came off a 4dr 57 olds hardtop,close fit except it was 3in to long and the post and gutters being a lil different. so we de sided to cut off most of the center and back section,and six inch from the front screen.and kept the orgianals in hope to keep the flappers!
for the most part it was in a lot ways the same,we did use the couple inches of the 57 gutter rails ends for the curl in to the body lines,i hope to use the stainless from the 57!
the roof was laid and the back window set in then the roof was cut right above the back window and 4inches were cut out to get rid of the hump! igain more sight through the back window yet i lost some on the quarter. i was worried about the fullsize back glass but not stoked on sinking the window idea.so i left it & im really happy with it,its notevery day you can see out the back window on a chopped sled!

 

Cadi, I liked it from the start but the more I see the more I dig it!

 

so the trunk lid was married with the 56 buick lid, to keep the lines going from the roof! it created a new line in the back thats gonna looked pretty good it peaks more now! in the front brow 1 1/2 inches had to be added in to the center to go down. it took two roofs plus the original to add two inches in the gutters! i think that answers the tech of it!

crustynut -- you seem surprised its bad ass! you should build that buick father in laws has!you know you want a kustom

 

No, not surprised. I just couldn't wrap my mind around it without seeing it.

 

ratpink that is one sweet looking buick you got there.. makes me really wanna rescue the 55 Buick i saw at my last trip to the junkyard.. that's one of my dream cars.. and yeah keep the pink.. if anyone gives you shit about it kick their ass and then tell all their friends that they got their ass kicked by a guy with a pink car
