1959 or 60 Hilman Panel Delivery. As you can see it's not perfect, it has a few rust issues and dents. How cool would this be as a G***er? Or should I sell it? And what would you say to $6500 o.b.o. plus the ride.
those little Hilmans make killer looking G***ers, just don't over do it and end up with a Street Freak
build it! I think the price may be more than the market can stand, but it would be much more saleable if you build it. I can see a built 283 with dual quads on a tunnel ram, fenderwell headers, four speed (Saginaw would stand up fine with a light car), narrowed Olds rear end, set of nostalgic slicks, narrow Econoline axle, some vintage Torque Thrusts. Hey wait a minute, I have all that in inventory! keep us posted
Back in the day, Marvin had a Hillman called The "Hellion". It had a 460 Ford taken out to a 510" and a straight axle. It was a street freak but cool, nevertheless. He use to bring it out to Van Nuys all the time. It burned down in a garage fire.
With it's 86" wheelbase, it would never have been a G***er (92" min. wb except for Anglias which had to run at their stock 90 1/2") but it will still make a cool hotrod. As for it being a Hillman Husky, this is taken from the web and I believe is to be correct.. "The Husky was badge engineered and slightly modified to form the Commer Cob basically the same vehicle but with the rear side windows removed to create a panel van." CC
They look real cool done g***er style but man are they short and narrow. I'd hate to go fast in one. They make anglia's look like a stable platform and I've seen how nervous they look with any real power in em.
What's under the front now? When I built this, I just spaced up an original axle that had early 50 Pontiac(?) brakes, and added an early Mustang box. It drove great
There was a Hillman set up as a g***er just recently on ebay with a vw ball joint/torsion front end. Not saying I would go that route but that would definitely be inexpensive.
Ok so what do you think? small block chevy, auto, olds rear. axle, awb. Hhmmm. Or I could lower the price to $3500 obo. Ideas?
