  1. i agree
even though she was smokin' hot in the sixties
mr. gasket should have retired her in the late seventies,
she was lookin kinda spent then.
in the late eighties a buddy of mine saw a young kid (teenager) at the mr. gasket booth asking the parts guy
"who's the old lady with the huge ***s?"
    i kid you not.
definitely not appealing to the new generation of gearheads.
    just my 2 cents

    I can understand that.

But, I'm kinda sorry that some of the younger generation doesn't really understand (Who's Linda Vaughn??) the history, culture, and tradition of hotrodding.

I grew up thinking I would be the new Miss Hurst Golden Shifter but at about 12 I realized there will never be another Miss Hurst. Linda Vaughn was, is and forever will be Miss Hurst, no matter how much I want the job!

    mmmmmff......snicker.........MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Man...someone, somewhere is plotting my doom for laughing so hard at that the FIRST time I read it, and again....

IMO, she still looks good...but if I were old enough to call her "young lady," I might be excited.

Would it be wrong to have her pose by the ****** car?

    I'm gonna shut up now.

I DISAGREE! This photo is from the mid-1980s and even half a dozen years later,
she sure don't look "kinda spent" to me:

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of having dinner with Linda at York. She is a great lady with tons of personality and fun to be around..........except when she is tired and hurtin' from a broken ankle!:)

I think it was George Nye who said, with an apology, that Linda had been around motorsports for almost fifty years.

I'm glad he had his hands behind his back. He was thinking of the days when he was just a wee child. And wanted to relive those times.

I remembered her when I worked for Gratiot Auto Supply back in the late '70's up in Pontiac, MI on Dixie Hwy. She would always come into the store on her way up to Milan Dragway. She was a hot topic then and she still is today.

Sixdogs, I'm sure there would be no problem if you copied that photo and blew it up to poster size. It's from my old files at IRP and was taken by one of the best photographers who ever lived, the late Jack Gladback.

You can't give up on your dreams so easily, Megan. Maybe there will never be another Linda Vaughn, but there can always be a new generation who can carry the torch. I'd vote for you.

I used to date women with long legs and big hair back in the '60's and I can say there is merit in it. Big hair would be a great retro thing to happen again and not just at the truck stop. It always got in the way of everything but added a whole new element to dating or going out. Long legs were always in style but I would love to see a beehive hairdo in a chopped coupe.
Linda Vaughn is not my style but for those who lived back then--I did--she was every bit the pop icon to the car scene as a Farrah or Dale Sr. was in the modern era. Her photos will be around forever.
That Elvira photo is not bad.
