I had a real chub for a set of wide whites before I put them on my car. After a year of driving with them I wish I'd gone with the blackwalls (would have saved a lot of $$$ too). I'm tired of people calling my car a "mafia car" or telling me it looks really "cl***y":p. I wish I'd gone with the blackwalls for more of a hot rod look.
I also wish I'd gone with the bias plies instead of the radials. I know on my car they're mostly covered, but if you're obsessive about the details like I am it will eat at you...

What's wrong with the Cragars in the avatar? If the fronts are no wider than 6", a fairly narrow bias tire would look fine and you could stick some wide Pro Tracks or recapped slicks on the rear for a late 60's look. Then throw some flake or a panel job on it and its on baby!

  21. Don't know how much mill you got pushing that turd (no offense intended) so I have no idea how much tire you need, but it really needs something to fill the wheel house. Somewthing pretty tall will fill the bill real well.

I opted for chrome steelies BTW and blackwalls. But I I'm just not a big fan of Wgite walls and when or if you deside on a glossy color it'll look better with a bit of chrome.

If you really like chrome steelies & black walls then go with it. Don't worry about what every one else likes, its your car not their's.:D By the way I think all of your choices would look cool.

Hate to stick with the pack but chome steels and blackwalls always look good. A little more important is the RIGHT chome steels. Do not under any cir***stances run the after market chome "smoothies" that everybody sells without a hubcap. Just looks bad! And not in the good way! Wheelvintiques and a couple of others sell what they call "oem" style chrome steels, that's the ones to use. Another possibility is chrome "gennie" style wheels, (early ford), but those that I've seen the chrome doesn't throw very well around the lugs, and they don't look great without caps. For tires look at hurst racing tires website, they're 29 by 8 recap cheater would look great on the back. They make a neat looking recap front that looks alot like the old u.s. royal fronts. I've used they're stuff on a couple of builds, and have had no problems with the caps. One last thought, widths are important as well to get the right look. Keep the fronts at 4.5 - 6 inches max. The rears will always look best with a 7-8 inch width. Some one suggested using the Crager S/S's in the avitar photo, If they were narrower I'd second that with the above tires. As a matter of fact, I have a customers channeled A coupe in right now That is more late sixties influanced, and that combo is being considered !

Chrome Steelies and Blackwalls look pretty good. Depends on the engine and overall current of the car.

My vote... black steelies, blackwall bias ply's, and beauty rings. Simple and understated. Just my opinion
