Hey Everyone, I've had several friends that kept telling me and my husband to get on the H.A.M.B and never seemed to take the time to get started conversing with all of you. I have freelanced for the automotive magazines for the last 19 years, with this year making some changes. I decided to begin a online ladies automotive magazine called LIA Magazine-Ladies in Autosports. I blame my husband for my addiction to autos, whether they're hot rods, rat rods, street rods, muscle cars, drag racing, etc. One of our first few dates was him taking me to the U.S. Nationals way back in 1975. Little did he know that I was hooked until a few days later. Well, lets just say the rest is history. I can eat, breathe, and drink cars. We also took our daughter to many car shows and have made her into a car fanatic. Yes I am a caraholic. Thank you very much...I love the whole automotive scene.
Thanks all...You have a good evening and great week. We leave for DesMoines Goodguys Thursday....Yeah!
Where's the event held and what are the dates? Hey John didn't realize it was you. I like dark sides as does the other half...
Welcome aboard Julie. Looking forward to meeting you in person in Columbus in a couple of weeks. The HAMB Drags is held in Joplin, MO the weekend of Aug 22nd. I'll fill you in on more details in Columbus.
Newport Indiana, Oct 2,3,4 http://www.newporthillclimb.com/ For the HAMB Drags, they will be on Aug 22 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=335315 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=41
Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes. I heard many good things about the H.A.M.B. I'm looking forward to many good conversations. Your LIA Lady, Julia LIA Magazine-Ladies in Autosports http://liamag.com/
Welcome from Central Valley Ca. 2 hrs West of Yosemite, my wife has the car disease as bad as I do, as does our grown son... Funny how the ladies always get a lot of welcomes around here...
Thanks for the warm welcome from CA. I'm sure you're glad that the family enjoys the whole car scene. My hubby hears from many of his friends that they wished their wives was into the cars the way I love them. Us women just need to share with other women what is so great about these old cars. That's why I'm doing the ladies automotive magazine...LIA Magazine-Ladies in Autosports (http://www.liamag.com/).
My wife is as much into cars as I am, only difference she likes dirt oval I like asphalt 1/4 mile and she likes hot rods with fenders and race cars without and I am the opposite.
Welcome from Northern California asch!! Good to see the ladys get involved. My wife has a 53 plymouth she is currently restoring, and has a 66 mustang. She raced circle track cars for 3 years (mini stocks) and loves motorsports almost as much as I do. Our first big date was at the Autolite Nationals at Sears Point Raceway back in 95. My 6 year old daughter has her own pink coveralls that she wears at our shop, and has her own work station. I started bringing her down to our shop as soon as she could walk on her own pretty well. Now she has her own tool box, and when my brother and I have a car jacked up on jack stands, she'll grab a set and put her wagon or pedal car on them and bang away on the metal!!! Good stuff...
That is great to see more and more ladies in the whole automotive scene. You and her need to check out the online magazine I've started that is geared toward women. It is called LIA Magazine-Ladies in Autosports, http://www.liamag.com. Let me know what you think, be sure to share any ideas, thoughts, or articles you'd be interested in seeing online in the magazine. We have a 1966 Impala wagon that we currently drive to various shows. Also, in our shed waiting to be fixed is a 1969 Z28 Camaro. My husband and I are anxious to get started on that project...We like just about any kind of hot rod with or without fenders and almost all the race cars...
Thank you for the warm welcome. That is absolutely great to hear how involved your wife and daughter are in the sport. It can definitely be a family sport for those who want it to be for them. I launched an online magazine that all of you might be interested in looking at. It is called LIA Magazine-Ladies in Autosports, http://www.liamag.com. The magazine is geared toward the ladies, however we don't exclude the men. Please feel free to look around and offer us any of your ideas and thoughts of what you would like to see presented online in each bi-monthly issue.
