Yeah. I just came across you guys a few days ago. Been stuck to this thread. Lot to catch up on. I've seen alot of drag racin' pics in the last coupla' days.

I've seen/lived more than most in my age bracket in real life. But I wasn't born back then..

Those are some rediculous pics. after two days of lookin' at pics of cars - those pics tell stories without words...

    Those are great...

The Bowlesmobile pilot definitely has his race face on.
Any more info on the dragster with the potvin set up? It looks pretty sophisticated for the stone age of drag racing.

These aren't the best pics, but I was scanning some old negatives, and found them.
Thought they would be good to share here though...

They are from Thunder Valley Dragways in Marion, SD from about 1982 or so...

Actually, the business hasn't "folded" , still building engines as of yesterday... just a whoooole lot smaller staff....down to one...and he only works when he want's to...never in the winter ;)

The lime green you remember was the Anglia. Lots of other colors too.

I got a little time so I'll post some of what I got - warning - they're not all in motion. And I won't take up too much bandwidth - just a cupla' each. I got alot more.

A good resource for the early years would be Gasser Madness, He just put up a piece of the gasser years of the Seaport cars. He did a great job of enhancing the photos. I still need to get him a few that I have recently found...

Jeff (T.) Here On Lake Erie

    I'll start at the beginning...

    1954 Ford Thames panel - lot's of motors - ? class.

This car was originally built as an "exhibition" car, and was actually driven on the street and strip. One thing lead to another over time and it didn't see much street. Time slips show 9.00 sec and 160 mph runs...

It's funny to look at the ground in the first pic. The car is parked in front of the second Seaport building, in front of the doors. Evidence and remnants of the stories of all the burnouts that originated in the shop and ended up in the street...
