The bellhousing is barely visible so many will say striping it is silly, but if I built any of my rides for people that might some day look at it, I probably wouldn't be doing any of it at all. I just started doing this so my lines are rough... I just have to work my way towards more and more visible stuff. Still not bold enough to tackle the valve cover, air cleaner, or dash. This is all mixes of 1Shot fire red, white, and black. I was going for a burgandy and dark grey, but because I was mixing color on white cardstock and tinting the red with black turned it brown in a hurry I ended up with red and light grey. What's a good red that can tint really dark? 1Shots red is almost orange. Whaddya think? Can you point out some real rookie mistakes?
The devil is in the details. I agree, you know its there. For those of us who look for detail, we would notice believe me.
Nice job! I'm new to striping myself and got tired of practicing on gl***, so I started striping my bench vice, old tool boxes and everything else I can find. Still not confident enough to do an actual car. I know what you mean about the reds, I ordered some Rubine Red and it's actually pink! If you want a darker red or burgandy, maybe try some brown and add red to it.
Two important Philosophical concepts for rodders: Anything worth doing is worth doing to excess. Because it's there! These are fully valid replies to almost all *********** carping.
Looks great to me! Chances are you'llbe looking at your ch***is for a day or two before the body goes on, might as well have nicely detailed parts to look at.
Looking good, practice on those type of parts. By the time you get to important stuff It'll be perfect
Cool stuff to be sure! For a Ford falcon six, no? Nice to see you on this board, I see your stuff alot on another board I lurk on about cafe racers. If that is Falcon stuff, I have one too! About 30 years as amatter of fact.
good lookin Louvers, 62 Ranch' 144 ... the worst part of the sickness is I've got a 200 sitting on the floor of my garage with it's own bell housing and all... but who knows when I'll get to that? Nice work Fatt, what brush was that? I did all mine with a Mack00. How do you get such clean corners? Do you wipe away ends or just use the right brush for the right job?
thanks! i guilty as well. the truck i consider my "shop truck" barely has any striping on it except for a piece on the hood and one on the tailgate. i used a 0 mack on the trans i think, been awhile since i did that one. as for the corner thing some of both and alot of practice. i find i dont have to wipe near as much as i used too, but i've still got a lot of learning to do yet too
Run with it. Thing like that seperate you from everyone else and makes the whole more pleasing. Rock on. r
The cool thing about this is, you know how when you build a car and you alone can see every flaw? This is kind of the opposite. It's there, it's cool, and most likely only you know about it. I like it alot.
i don't have pics but the upper control arms on my '62 Falcon are an experiment in pearl fogging and flake.... and rightly hidden away!
