Into intro info?? me too. My name is Ryan and i am 34, been into cars/trucks since before birth, ask god, he'll verify that. by age 3 i had tons of hot wheels, matchbox, etc... by age 5 i was already building 1/24 scale plastic models, and still do and will till i p*** away. Started working on cars with my dad, uncle, brother, and anyone who had the hood up on any car. CAR can be a truck, car, bike, or anything with wheels and a motor...I have had many a sweet rides over the years and most all of them had a few tweaks or modifications to them.. I gave up drinking and doing drugs and got into recovery about 6 years ago, since then i started driving people out to bars and stuff, and since i only had a four door ford tempo, i had to get a better car, I landed the best deal in my life when i found my wife, She is a colored gal, loves cars, like me, a little black n blue but not bruised. has a big heart, well, she had heart surgery since her old one wasn't pumping right, got replaced with an older guys heart, but she is still all woman. she likes jewelry and being adorned with fancy things, really really loves going for long cruises, and checking out car shows. i think she wants to race some day too, We got married about 3 1/2 years ago when i signed my name on the marriage certificate (aka ***LE) and she does wear my ring, (key chains) Since i am single and have a wicked car, she is my only love and will take priority over and actual female. i'd rather stay single and have my car then to have a wench upset my hot rod hunny anyday. MY wife (car) is a 1982 Cadillac 6 door limo with a 74 buick apollo 350/350. I joined this site because i was looking for some info on the old buick 350's and happened upon one here, enthralled with what i found i had to become a member too, Vehicles are my p***ion and always will be, and i don't happen to have enough local car folk to BS with often enough to keep me inspired or help answer any tech questions i may have, around here people are afraid of my favorite 3 words, MODIFY, CUSTOMIZE, AND FABRICATE. for some reason people freak out when you don't get the factory OEm part for a car. silly nay sayers, get away... if it aint fast enough, then beef it up.
an old mans heart, when i bough my wife for $100.00 she supposedly had a blown head gasket, but i managed to get about 6000 miles and made over $4,000.00 driving, when it finally did blow, i bought the expensive complete gasket rebuild kit, and tore into the engine, pulling the cast iron head off the aluminum block wasn't too hard at all, checking for flatness and cleaning it all up properly, i put it all back together only to get about 3000 miles before it went south again, so rather then spending over $250 on another gasket set, i asked around for V8, a friend of mine happened to have a 74 buick apollo with the 350 in it, only parked due to shoving the exhaust into the back seat upon going over a train track, she said $50.00 and i could have it, when i laid eyes upon it, i had a hard time containing my excitement, i gave her 75,00 for it cause she deserved it and the car is worth it, even though it was rusted out in the truck, it still had a good heart. i drove it for about 2 weeks before i realized if i kept driving it, i would get a ticket and have to spend money, so i pulled the drive shaft, slide it right into the caddy trans and then yanked the motor/trans as one, after pulling the caddy motor out and attempting to test fit the buick 350, i was impressed instantly when i found out all i had to do was a few simple things, never even pulled it back out after dropping it in the first time. i had to drill one motor mount hole, add a thick piece of metal about 8 inches long to hold up the trans, and splice together the upper rad hose, and extend the positive starter wire. then the obvious of exhaust work. it sat exactly where it needed to, not ****ed or angled back too far and has plenty of room between firewall, rad, and fenders. before the motor swap, she barely had enough power to do 80mph, and not enough off the line to get to 25 anytime soon. now she goes from 0-80 in about 7 seconds, and keeps climbing till i get scared and lift. a small issue that is awesome is that the speedometer is not right, i think it is about 10-12 mph off, so when i am doing 55 it says 65-70. which is cool, cause it feels like i am speading, but i am not, the old mans heart wasn't as healthy as a horse, it eventually dropped a lifter and i had to replace them all, no big deal, till i got it back on the road and now find out that the cam is wore down and wont lift the valve like it should, valve seals are also worn and leak a bit, but it still runs like a....big ole beast. i have a chevy 350 waiting in the wings, but would much rather keep the buick 350 alive and boost its output. it only has a 2 barrle carb, and i don't think i really care to swap in a 4v. as it gets better gas milage then my mothers minivan and has style, cl***, and beauty that you don't get from a mini van. in the 6 car shows i have entered my wife into, she managed a win, a 2nd, and 2 3rd place finishes. not bad concidering i am going up against GNX monte SS and a few TA/birds. the old mans heart was from this guy
My caddy is my daily driver, 7 days a week, as it is my only car, and she wont let me buy another car unless she gets all the parts from it, gotta love jealous women,
I seriously didn't catch that his "wife" was his car till I was almost done...Cl***ic. Isn't that a sign of old age? Scary...I turn 35 in 2 weeks. Welcome!
