Event Coverage DANBURY Ct. SNYRA REUNION Sunday July 19

If you went to the Stock Car Races at the Danbury Fairgrounds the REUNION is this Sunday at the WestConn West Side campus off exit 3 of I84. INSIDE in an airconditioned building. NEW THIS YEAR is a car show on the upper parking lot run by the Dover Drag strip guys that run the Saturday night Marcus Dairy cruse. They have 40 race cars, stocks, midgets, restored dirt and Champ cars planned for the inside show. This is a fund raising show, your donations at the door go to the Paul Newman Hole in the Wall Gang camp for kids.

What time does it start?

 

Officially 10-4 I think, but cars will rollin by 9. Long uphill drive once you turn off Rt6.

 

Man i remember those races when i was a kid.We used to drive to Danbury from Bridgeport just for those races...

 

The track was a good 20 minutes up the road from my house but I could hear them on the nights I couldn't get to see them. Sure miss them.

 

Any specific directions once I get off exit 3? want to try to make it in the morning-have another small event I need to be at in the afternoon.

 

LAKE AVE. Exit off I84, turn right at the bottom of the ramp, go about a mile WestConn. campus is on the right with a digital sign right across from a Big Stop & Shop. Uphill drive is a good half mile long lots of parking once you get to the top.

 

Located several sites showing the 2009 SNYRA Reunion being held at the O'Neill Center on the campus of WCSU in Danbury, CT. The time is given as 11AM-5PM. It's interesting that the WCSU site lists the event as being held on Sunday, July 19th, from 8AM-8PM. I wouldn't go to early or to late and aim for the 11-5 time period.

 

Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is wonderful. I wish I could make it. Have fun.

 

Bob; Were you able to find the Dragster in your garage ?

 

Yes, it is safe and sound with two years of household stuff protecting it from rolling out the door. I do plan on bring up some old odds and ends that once belonged to the father of a local race car restorer if he plans to be there.

I got there later than I planned to and had to be home for other projects but it was a good turnout. Did a walk around your car shot some photos on the way out, sorry I missed you. Come back down for the Dover Drag Strip reunion in September at Marcus Dairy, next exit South on I84. Bob

 

cool you parked next to me I had hoped for more hotrods but it was the 1st year to have the car show out side. some very nice race car in side.
