Trying to make a decision on which ones to use... I have searched and found some good pics using the short ones, but can't find any using the full length straps...

Here are a couple of examples I got out of the cl***ifieds from a HAMBer that sells them... What else ya got??

No pics, but I like the one with "zig-zag" springs

If the full hood ones go over the top of the hood. I would go with the short ones. They just have the cool factor.

Still don't understand why these straps are the 'thing' for hot rods. Just seems odd to me, perhaps on an MG or other European car of that era but, hot rods? - not so much.

  7. Lime Works sells the stainless zig zag springs and br*** buckles (I nickel plated mine) then took the hardware to a saddle shop and had them make the straps to my specifications.

Picture of my friend with his 27 ford roadster. The straps were made by a bridle shop.

Thanks guys... I am leaning towards the short straps. I am not sure the ones that go over the top would look right with just the hood top on a Model A... the one in my avatar to be exact.... any other pics or opinions(that probably just opened a can of worms).

CW Moss sells the kits and/or zig zag springs. I like the look, then decided that A) it didn't quite suit what I was after and B) it was really expensive for what I thought you got.A harness shop could certainly make up the belts for you-anyway you wanted.

  12. Buy the hardware from Restoration Supply(much cheaper), and as said, have a saddle shop make straps. Tandy even carries strap stock.

Man,I didn't even know Tandy was still around. There hasn't been one in my neighborhood for 20 years. Good to know, they carried a lot of stuff you you use for lots of applications.
