*** EDIT: Apparently I've exceeded my bandwidth on Photobucket so here is a direct link to the album as a slideshow... hopefully that will work

I went to a local South Jersey junkyard on Saturday. Unfortunately, my SDHC card for my camera is acting up and will only give me a third of the pics I took...

The yard is still fully functional and operates daily but anyone who has dealt with Jimmy before, will tell you without a doubt he has a Barrett Jackson mentality and ANYTHING in that yard is platinum to him. (ie. $100 tailight, $250 steering column, $250 trunk lid with rot, etc...)

Perhaps that is the reason for the stuff being there still.

I will post a few pics and a link to the album as it will take all night to upload 90+ pics... ENJOY:D

yes, this is at a junkyard, but not the one pictured in the rest of the pics... From his personal collection, a 1902 Renault.

  5. Looks like a '60 Buick convertible, sitting in front of it looks like a mid 60s Lincoln.

The red 35-36 ford truck with the flathead in it still looks pretty decent. If the guy has the "barret jackson" mentality you say it's a shame cause it also looks like there is a portable crusher in one of the pics(the big shiny red box). Would not be the first yard I've seen where someone doesn't want to sell things but then crushes them needing the minimal money scrap is bringing.

Yeah, that truck wasn't too bad. There's another flathead sitting on the seat:eek: The one that was a shame was the 32' Ford pickup with a wrecker boom in the bed that was squashed by the forklift one day. It was a complete truck. I don't really think they will crush any of the old stuff until the yard gets sold. They do a large volume of business on latemodel crap so they don't have time to play with the old stuff.;)

Another sad thing is I've been looking for a 51 f100 and I counted 3 or 4 in those pics. Granted they are rough but damn. I'm afraind to know what he'd want for that red 35-36 truck.

  14. That was some good pics for sure. Stuff, for the most part, looks pretty rough. That bubble top 61 Chevy, is, ummmmm, fair? And that 62 Pontiac. A Kaiser 2 door? That's gotta be a rare bird there. That Oliver grove tractor was interesting .. May be a source for data plates though .. ?? ...

I'm in Marlton, NJ. Where's this yard? Kinda looks like Friendship in Shamong but a little too neat and organized for there! If you haven't checked out Friendship, you should. I've been going there for about 15 years now and they always have some interesting stuff. Oldest useable stuff is probably late '40s though. The owner's not too bad either with the prices - I'd say on par with anything you'd find on ebay/craigslist. I recently picked up a very nice, driver quality front seat from a '48 Pontiac for $100. Also got a complete, keyless, chevy van column for $75. -Kevin

  16. Mother nature is winning .. This one

this style of organization method is a unique personal choice ..
Not using standard practices for sure
rows-make - model- year -condition- price -date of rcpt... Alpha / numeric code ?????????

"oh that... its under the crushed 70 cadillac.. So no one will walk away with it !"

did ya get a precise map of where things are so next time you can find things.?

HOFFA COULD BE IN THERE SOMEWHERE

Oh, there's a lot more than 4 there;) I have close to 300 pics I took there but only a little over 90 came off my card:mad:

That oliver is actually one of 3 of them he has. Ratrodder grabbed the grille off of one and the other is REALLY burried.

Yep, Friendship and a few from Freedman's yard down the street. Jimmy can be good at times but recently has been a dick. When George was alive and running the yard, stuff could be had cheap.

The yard actually does have an organized system with Fords mostly in one area, Chevy's in another, Mopars in another, etc... You may have an occasional straggler here & there... The center of the yard has a lot of cars stacked on top of another, 4 or 5 rows deep(there's a 55 Nomad in there, 3rd row back under 2 cars, 48 Chevy convertible, same thing) As far as that yard goes, I could walk thru blindfolded...

Looks like a lot of the junk yards did nere in the South, 20 years ago. Too bad most of the stuff will rust/rot away before being crushed. We have a yard here that is comparable but way less rust/rot. It is 80 acres.

  20. That "1902 Renault" is a replica. Probably built in the 70's.
Here's a real one. Not much difference, true...

Wow, there's a lot of cool stuff but it's all pretty rough. It looks a lot like some of the "dumps" that were around this area until property started changing hands through the last 10 years and everyone decided to "clean up" their property to increase values. We managed to save lots of parts from the dumps before they disappeared for good.

  23. There are several Stepdown Hudsons there, plus a '41 Super Six and a '56 Nash Ambassador, too.

Some nice glass and stainless trim out there, but not a whole lot else, apparently.

    Very nice "graphic" pics, thanks!

Yeah, most of the cars are good projects for the likes of Jim Sibley, lol... but there are still some usable parts here & there. It's just a matter of catching him on a good day.

  25. I love these Junk yard pics, They are facinating to us Limey`s who like old American vintage tin. Thank you for sharing these great mouth watering moments in time.......Cheer`s Bri

Thanks for posting the photos, there was a '38 truck grille that should be saved. For the record that car in photo #1 sure looks like a reproduction 1902 Rambler that had a Briggs & Stratton engine, marketed in the 1960's.
