  1. Awsome thread, we hope to get to the USA in the near future, your story & photo's gave us a look at the hot rod culture there. Have spoke with Jim Aust a few times as we bought the A Coupe thru him that belonged to Richard Graves in L.A. Cheerz.... Kiwi Helrod:cool::)

  2. Wow, almost like being there. Thanks for taking the time to document an awesome road trip!!

That was a gift to me from HAMBer Sololobo last summer. I always have it on the road with me to hold all of my important stuff and this trip was no exception! I still need to get it striped on of these days though....

A nice trip and cool pictures. Three of us from Illinois, a 32 sedan and two 46 pickups made the same trip out 70; then to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and to LARS and back 80. Wonder we didn't cross paths somewhere. I did see the car at So-Cal. Everyone should take this trip - it only took us ten years to do it.

Hey you drove right by my place. The I80 truck stop. Its right outside town and I NEVER GO THERE. And you know whats funny. I remember when that Semi was jack knifed, I think that is a Bettendorf cop that I know standing on the highway.

This is the best thread that has been on here in a while! Great story you two. You saw more in that short amount of time than most people will in their lifetimes.

That is a great hot rod with two great people in the seats!

Megan........Once again .....you have out-done yourself!~! If this thread doesnt inspire all Hot Rodders, than i dont know what will. It has certainly inspired 32gal and I ! We are `already talking about a trip such as yours. Life is short and one needs to live it as full as possible. You have paved the way for many to follow........

Congradulations on living the "Dream" !~!

Cool trip Megan, you know how to see the country!

Nothing like a road trip, but a road trip in a roadster is really living right.:D

Will admit I am just a little jealous.

Great thread thanks!! And you didn't have to put up with the airline crap! Pretty hard to see the pony express museum or Wendover from 30,000ft. The good ol' USA is alive and well off the interstate.

Super Write Up, Glad you 2 made it home safe, Great seeing all your story. Best thread I have read on the HAMB... I travel a lot hauling these projects and hot rod cars, but dont always take the time to see all that is close by... Im getting better at it tho.

Megan, thanks for the great thread and all the fantastic pics. It feels like I'm riding in the rumble seat of the roadster! The LARS road trip is my favorite because the miles just roll by and the sights are the best, especially going up the coast. I'm so glad you had a great time with no real trouble. And you are right, it isn't "THE trip of a lifetime" because you can do it many times in so many different ways on many different roads and routes!

Any time ANY of you are passing through Nebraska, we have a spare house in Hastings . Right in the middle of the USA on US Rt. 6 and just 15 miles South of 80.

That's ok, you were busy being a rockstar, selling space to Chip Foose and all :p:D I'm excited to follow your trip, please use Twitter and Twitpic to keep us updated. It's easy, I promise!

We were gone about 2 1/2 weeks. It took us 4 days to get to California from Ohio and about the same to get home. Some days were long, especially Denver to Las Vegas, I think it was about 14 hours or so.

    Great pictures and story. Thanks!
I must admit I was worried.
Since I had a part of this build, I was so proud to see that old roadster make that long trip. How could anyone doubt the reliability of a flathead after this!
