Shit I was hopin to see it at the fall country place tavern show:p

  4. Picked this up at a swap meet over the weekend. Not the whole engine, but the intake, carbs, pump/stand and fuel line/linkage. Got a great deal on it, it'll be going on the 33!

    That intake set-up looks super!
It'll look right at home on the Coupe.

And all that gear in the background!!! your Garage looks like an ole-timey parts shop!....All you have to do is stick your hand anywhere and like magic the part you need will come right out of the pile...

I'm starting to regret leaving the 21 stud in my 35 pickup when I sold it - it was in better shape than any of the 24 stud engines i have now. - that one looks in similar condition - but this not the engine that's going in the coupe is it? - (seem to recall you were planing on an 8BA)

In any case a 21 stud set up like that one with the stock heads on it looks nice & low key - that intake is all the external bling you would need....

    Spence.

  11. No, that 21 stud will go into the roadster one day (I have a Thickstun for it as well).
The 33 will have a 59AB and a merc crank.

I to will be one of the ones looking for your up dates!

  14. SMALL UPDATE:

Finally got a few hours o work on the coupe. I want to get the roof sandblasted so I can work on it, and so I had to remove the wood on the upper door openings and across the header. Came out pretty easy and surprisingly in decent shape. Also pounded a few dents on the drivers side area around the door. The metal is nice and thivk (not rusted thin) and takes some abuse. It seems the roof is coming back to oriiginal shape with ease. I really don't want to do much more until it's blasted.

You can see how bashed up it was before:

And now it's a little straiter. I only worked on it for about 5 minute, but it's no longer sunk it but rather rounded like it's suppost to be (kinnda hrd to tell in pics). It's nowere near done in that area. Getting that drip rail strait and square may be a bit of a bitch!!

    Nice, very nice!

  16. Got a little more done. This car had a firewall tach welded across te back, right below the rear window. I got that cut out, and also put the 33/34 rear end I'm using in it with the spring. Now it looks all sky jacker in the back!!

Chris - I think you are doing the right thing by straightening out that roof - rather than put another roof on. The metal looks pretty good, and if you got those results in only a few minutes, think about what a few hours would do!

    Good luck with the project.

  21. I want to save as much of the roof as possible. Theres one small area (passanger side upper B pillar) that may need replaced. That looks to be were they put the chain around it to drag it back on it's wheels after it rolled. It's really twisted and drawn tight. Other than that I'm sure that it'll straiten. I really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to fixing this roof. I don't want to end up making more work for myself, so want to get the metal cleaned and ready for my good friend and metal guru to help me out on it.

Chris, are you going to chop it? I'm no metal expert and maybe you've discussed this with your buddy, but what about trying to fix that roof after you cut the top off? Might be easier to pound out some of that if you can move it around more and even clamp it to some contoured blocks of wood, etc. I guess the big concern would be getting it too out of whack to fit back to the car, but you could take some measurements diagonally corner to corner and keep an eye on it with a tape measure, string or long piece of wood indexed with the measurements. Just a thought.

  24. You know, I'm not sure on the chop yet. I see what your saying, but the main thing is the top is pushed down and the doors won't fit right now. I would like to get the doors on and fit before I chop it to make sure things are square. I'll talk with my buddy, see what he says but I'm sure he'll want to straiten it and then chop it. I will also be replacing the whole cowl from the center windshield post down, so I'll probably do that when I chop it.

Chris, I have been missing all these progress reports!!! Nobody dives into this shit faster then your for real. You are already making noticeable progress on the car and it's taking shape nicely. Love the 21 stud and should make a nice little motor until you get that 59ab. Wish I could offer some advice on the roof but I really don't know anything.

Oh and I think I have made up my mind on my'32's engine choice. I think that if I don't go with a flathead on this car I amy not ever own anything with one in it. So like your 33 a 59ab with a 4" merc crank will probably show up in the coupe.

What am I going to do with the 303 Olds??? I have been thinking about throwing that in my Father In Law's '31 Chevy I putting together. I will make the decision by the end of this week so I can get going there.

Anyways man, nice work and keep at it. With the rate your going, Christmas it should be ready for paint.

  26. I love Olds engines, but for some unknown reason I do not want to cut up this frame/firewall. I don't know why, but a flatty is my only chaoice for this car.
Put that Olds in you FIL's coupe, that would be rad, and YES JJ, build a flatty for your 32. Look at Doug's (justdug) 32 5W and you'll see just how bad ass a car can look without going overboard. He also started out with a car WAAAAAAAY worse than yours!

Put the pressure on him Nick, not that he needs the muscle to get this thing whipped together lick-ed-t-split!!!:D

I say we rent him when he's done with that '33. He can take a flight to the UK to whip your coupe in shape and stop by my house on the way to help with my FIL's coupe.
