August 28 th and 29th is the Metro cruise in Grand Rapids, MI.http://www.28thstreetmetrocruise.com/site/?site=1&d=5&dt=15 For those of you that may not know about it the cruise is kind of like the Dream cruise on Woodward except you can actually cruise not just inch along on Woodward. It takes place on a 15 mile stretch of 28th St. and had 15,000 cars last year. Myself and another HAMBer from Indy want to do a HAMB style get together during the show so people can see what real hot rods and kustoms look like. We are looking at getting a place for just us to park and maybe having food catered . It's all in the planing stages . If enough people show intrest it could be really cool. I am also planing on having a party at my place on the night of the 29th. I live just off of 28th st. on one end of the cruise area. There are lots of hotels withen 5-10 min. or less from my place because I live close to the airport. I also have a large side yard that people could camp on. What do you think ?
I've never been but I think that this year I'm going to drive the Dodge over. It should be fun. I'd love to be able to find a place to park and hang out. From what I've heard it's hard to get a spot. One guy told me that a friend of his 'rented' some parking spaces from a business along the strip. They left to go drive around and came back and there spots were taken. I'm looking forward to it though and a HAMB area would be cool. Scott
This could be a great HAMB event in Grand Rapids. We can have our own show within the big event and show these people what real hot rods are all about. We have a place, food, and a good posibilty for some good rockibilly bands. Hot rods are what started the whole cruise thing anyway, so what do think, are you coming to G.R. August 28th and the 29th?
I'm in for the two days with my Non-HAMB car(65 Galaxie). If anyone wants a place to camp out shoot me a PM. Plenty of land and you can hook up to electric if you need to.
Anybody from Indy or Indiana for that mater going to this. So far two from from Indy will going up on Friday afternoon, if anyone else care to join us, let us know.
