I am going to sand the edge of my door gl*** (not tempered) so it fits better. I plan to clamp it to my work bench between a couple of sheets of plywood with the edge to be sanded exposed .I'm going to use 40 grit paper on my belt sander to remove unwanted gl***. Is this a good approach ? I would appreciate any tips. Thanks, Bill

If you are sanding a fair amount of material, heat will build up and crack the gl***. Unless you are just barely shaving very small amounts of material, you need water cooling. You can buy diamond grit discs that will attach to a 5" hand held grinder, then have a buddy squirt water on the diamond/gl*** contact area with a squirt bottle (or 1 liter soda bottle with a hole in the top) and you can remove quite a lot of material. Just keep the water pouring over it, and try to keep it out of the grinder motor. Oh yeah, try not to stand in the puddle you are creating on the ground. HIS gl***works has all the materials you need. http://www.hisgl***works.com/ Feel free to email or PM for more details if you need it.

2nd on water cooling if you're using any sort of power sanding. I did mine by hand and was ok.
