this is gonna sound dumb to most experts but i'm just lost. i got a 63 econoline and still cant get it to idle when its fully warmed up. i have checked every thing and can't find a leak. i did cut the muffler off and have basically open headers as of now. could that be an issue? also if you guys and can take a look at my older thread i explain a lil better on what i have and wats going on.http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...t=63+econoline

    Hey G***er
I have a 63 econoline pickup with a 170. When I first got the truck It would not idle smooth and smoked and fouled spark plugs. After rebuilding it twice and trying every adjustment known to man.than I pulled the head, changed all the valves & seals, gaskets, cleaned everything up put it back together and it still ran like ****.So I found an old stock rebuilt carb on E-bay from an old Ford dealership. I opened it up blew out the dust and put it on the truck. It has run smooth ever since. So it just may be a bad (or the wrong) carb.
    good luck
