Hello Joe, are you my Crew Chief ?

  8. Welcome. I used to live over the border in Patrick Co., VA. Lots of fine cars out your way. Do they still race modifieds at Bowman Gray Stadium? Saw many races back there in the day when I was following Paul Radford around NASCAR circles. Watched those dirt cars up at Madison/Mayodan too.

pete they still race every sat night, just not in 37 fords

  10. First race I saw at Madison was a ton of cars, good chow, close action, and even a fight in the pits. One driver went after another with a tire tool. As much as folks joke about that cliche, it was the only time I actually ever saw it happen. A perfect night at the races!

Pete,,,, the fights still break out from time to time,,, the good ole boys don't mind a scuffle to "settle" things.

I'm rusty76 and just wanted to say that Bowman Gray keeps me busy and yep still have the modified races. They also sometimes have the flathead fords come out and race it's pretty cool.

I'm not sure what I am doing here so if you actually see this let me know. This isn't really like an old base station where you yell and they yell back or maybe it is?

I saw your truck at a local show not terribly long ago with a rat in the gas tank cool truck and trick front suspension. I thought I recognized it but took me a moment. I don't really own a hot rod or custom just an old rusty truck but I'm looking foward to building my own.

  18. Hey, hey there Kid, careful in putting "Old Dude" and "Flathead" so close together in a sentence!!! At least you qualified it by adding "Cool".

Haven't been to Maxton yet, but it's on the list. Hope to see you there.
I'll be one of the old dudes.

Welcome from a Bama HAMBER, still miss the old Shep's Run in W-S every spring, then the NSRA messed it up! Now they want up to 1980 cars for members, they never get enuff! Bigger is not better as they have proven, if it works, why change it.............

Hey thanks for the words. I just wanted to say that in reply to the Cajun Kid that one of those flathead ford guys was a fella that used to campaign a modified at the stadium. I don't know if he still has his modified or not. I think it would be cool to see one of those cars at Maxton.

You'll have to excuse me here for a moment I'm new to this thing they call a computer and all. It took me two years to get past the blue screen. Anyhow I didn't realize that NSRA had anything to do with W-S although there are a ton of shows I've never heard of really. Any thoughts on how to find out about them? I go to the Heavy Rebel Weekender and I always enjoy it. I'd like to some day go back down to Charolette. Found it pretty cool that there are so many shows locally considering that the information seems to be held up in a cell.

If you want cars, plan to go to the Shades of the Past Run in Pigion Forge in September, it's the biggest run of the south for sure, you can seach it here from a few days ago for more info.

The NSRA held their Nats South (maybe by another name then) back in the 70's here at the Dixie Cl***ic Fairgrounds in Winston Salem. The fellow at Pulliam's Barbeque painted the banners..........Here are a few pictures from a recent photo shoot at Bowman Gray Stadium. The Rodder's Journal will feature the car in the next issue, #45.
