Ok i have a 1/2" tilt on the driver side of my coupe. I have hair pins. When i measure from the mono spring to the frame, the driver side has 1 3/4 inch and the p***enger side has 1 1/4 inch. Queston is can the hair pins adj make this happen? Dave
I checked the coils and changed them side to side the but it's still the same. I dont have a u bolt but 3 bolts and a bracket and the center bolt for the mono spring is in place. What could it be?
Check tire pressure? Again? I'f I swapped rear springs I d swap ends on the front spring too, if the situation reverses, gat another spring.
Long as you have a p***enger, or weigh 25 lbs. less than p***enger, should be perfectly level. On the other hand, if tilt is when you're in it then lose a few lbs.
I flipped the mono spring right to left. It is some better but still has a lean. Hope it just needs to set down
The T sits to the left, looking at it after you get out after driving by myself. If I rock it, it settles back to about level. Probably just resistance in the shackles and springs. Most older cars list to the drivers side because of spring fatigue.
Jack the car up in the front with the jack exactly centered under the spring. If it still leans, it is the back. No lean and is the front. Disconnect one end of the r/r if the front and see if it still leans when on ground. Still leans, check front crossmember and maybe shim. If it is the back, just adjust the coilovers with the front up untill level. Do you have a two bar rear suspension? That is another whole deal. Good luck
Ladder bars can sure tilt a ch***is. Do they go to the center or to the frame rails? Run the check I suggested to find which end to work on.
Use the old oval track racer trick and wedge the front spring. Use a tapered wedge like they use to adjust caster on straight front axled trucks or the same ones used to adjust pinion angle on a parallel leaf spring rear end. One of my buds couldn't get his '40 coupe to set level. I jacked it up and put a 3/16"T x 1 1/2"W x 2" L piece of metal in one side of the front spring pocket. Then reinstalled the U-bolts and dropped it down. He almost ****, instant level job. After he screwed around for a couple of days doin' some wacky off the wall bull ****, I had it level in less than 10 minutes. I told him to go buy a real wedge that centers on the spring center bolt to replace the band-aid PoS I put in there, but I don't think he ever will.
are both front shackles at the same angle? do you have a panhard rod? i've seen it where the panhard was mis-adjusted and pulled the axle over , so the shackles were at different angles
I am also fighting this same problem. I have determined that it is all in the front suspension, when its on jack stands and the rear is on the ground it's got no lean, but on the ft suspension and spring it leans. i'm not running a front panhard bar. The side where its leaning (p***enger side) the shackle is not at the same angle as the drivers side when its on the ground and on stands, does this mean my front end is not aligned side to side? Or is the spring misaligned on the axle? The axle has the hair pin mounts on it and spring piviots through them. From my measurments the axle is aligned evenly side to side. I have swapped the spring around and the lean is still on the p***enger side. Any new ideas would help Thanks
