Was offered this car today along with a fully built 454 engine with supposedly $7,000 in build costs in the engine. He wanted $18,000 for everything including a proper drop axle with discs and the frame horns that had been cut off and subframed. Or just the body/frame for $10,000. It was a little rich for my blood, but still a cool place to start.

seems like a lot for a body and bits of a frame. with a subframe there are probably other "improvements" which turn the frame into junk real quick.

as for the motor... is it un***embled sitting on a stand? value drops like a rock for a motor that has been installed and ran.

That looks like a 34 to me. All the 35's ive seen look a 36 except the grill looks more like a 34. The running boards flow into the fender and on a 35 and 36 the fender sits on top of the running board. I guess it could be a left over 34 that was ***led as a 35?

Opps!! I stand corrected that is a 35 Standard model. The 35 Master got the new body and the standard carried over.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I was hoping it would have been the suicide door version too. That would have helped a little bit.

Either or I would give $4500 for the body and fenders and leave the rest. Nobody needs the tilt column and other "improvements" as 49ratfink said. $18,000 is way high on that car and the $10,000 for the body is pretty steep too. It's just not worth the cheese for what you are getting. The body alone would be a good deal if you can get it for less then$5000 seeing how it looks like it's in good shape.

You might have your hands full bringing that chopped up frame back to life. Most subframe jobs I've seen are pretty ugly. Basically you're buying a decent body and that price seems a little high.

Seems steep. But its not every day that you stumble on an all steel 35 standard coupe. I would play ball with the guy and see if you cant strike a deal.

That's a load of cash for a beat up former street rod. Better deals to be had, especially in this market

I have a 34 Chev 5 window with frame fenders and hood and cant get 2500 CDN its more of a project than that but for 10,000 U.S. MINE COULD BE ON THE ROAD. After you strip that one down to the basics you never whats hiding underneath.

The 35 standard was a wood car; wood structure with sheet metal over the top. If the wood is rotten, you have big problems. IF not, they were a decent car. The grille looks like a different model-too much angle, wrong contour on top. The master had a similar grille, so it may be they added the master grille without noticing it doesn't fit. It's a lot of work; wiring, body, etc., so don't spend too much since you will have to fix or replace most of it. A poor 70's rod is a start-over affair usually. Lots of folks tried the subframes in the 70's and many were not straight or square, so check it out closely.

it would need to be a real deal 18k way to much, and parts near impossable for 35 std. Maybe 3 or 4k in todays market for a project like this and i hope you like the car, probally caused ot much trouble now
