aluminum wheels that look like stamped steel?

I'd like to trade out my stamped steel 15x8 Ford 5x4.5 wheels for aluminum ones but I don't want to lose the look, just the weight. I don't recall seeing aluminum wheels that look like stock stamped steel wheels? Am I smoking crack?

 

Sounds like you may be hitting the pipe a little hard.

I mean I've never seen anything like that, would be very cool though.
I'd like to see some if they were made

 

Yeah, I think I'm dreaming but I'm pretty sure I've at least seen some trailer wheels that were awfully close to what I want. I've been searching wheel and trailer wheels sites with no luck though.

They are a vintage Travel Trailer Wheel, 16" 5.5" boltpattern.

Very rare, very expensive, if and when a set comes up for sale.

 

Wheel Vintiques has a couple different wheels that look like steel wheels but I think 16" are the smallest diameter.

 

Wheelkid might be able to offer something useful. Knowledge, at least, if not product.

 

Wheel Vintiques makes some, but there expensive. They take old Early Style Ford Hub caps and only come in big sizes from 16x5 to 18x9.

I dont know of any aluminum wheel that looks like a steel wheel with no caps. I just dont think it's possible to stamp aluminum the same way the stamp the centers of a steel wheel.

 

unless they are forged or spun, most aluminum wheels aren't any lighter than the steel counterpart. I'm not really seeing the point??

 

Check some mini spares - Mercedes had an aluminum one at one time - looked like a stamped steel wheel but in aluminum. It is an 18" though . . . I had a set of four to try out but ultimately didn't like the look.

mid to late 80s cadillacs had fullsize aluminum wheels as spares that looked steel wheels.heres a pic.i know the car is not HAMB friendly its the only pic i have of the wheels

 

they were making steel wheels out of billet aluminum for a while, but they price was ridiculous! i think they were only available in smoothies, not OEM style.

Believe it or not you might find what you're looking for in tempa spares. They're aluminum and resemble a steel rim. Narrow, but maybe cheap enough you could get em widened into something workable.

You going super-sleeper or something? Damn I hope so.

 

Yes, I've got that 500 plus inch Lincoln 430 with all of the go fast goodies I can get my hands on and a toploader and I'm stuffing it all in a 55 Ford hardtop. It's getting some minitubs that hopefully won't be noticeable and cheater slicks and no straight axle. Just a moderate looking car that should thump a bit.

Some Mustangs too. I've got one that I use for a spare on my utility trailer.
