the funny thing is that i live in the worst part of the neighborhood i could seriousley be selling crack on my corner thats how bad it is fucking pits stain of the town ...but my house is niceley kept out fron grass is green and always cut house is nice nothing broke or damaged in the back it does have a bunch of stuff but out of sight ...ya know out of site out of mind...and these fucks keep breaking my balls ...oh wait i forgot this story..lol
my brother had a pool put in for the kids 4 foot half in the ground half out ..done nice lader got taken out of the pool when the kids werent in it so no accidents would happen ..gate was always locked so no other kids could fall in or anything 2 weeks after it was put up got slapped with a fine for 5000.00 and a court date so my brother went to the court date and the judge said it was against the law to have a pool in the back yard it was manditory to be taken down they even had a town offical come and inspect after it was removed ..cause a neighbor called the guy said. i knowit was mr 6 pak ...my house is not a rental its ours and my family broke there asses to get it ..my dad worked a long time to save for a down payment and ill be damned if this fucking guy is gonna give me shit ill burn his house to the ground and if anyone knows me they know i dont bull shit about it ..

This is probably at least part of why they are doing it. I lived in Sacramento for a few years until I moved back to Texas in April. Ya know it is more than just cars it is pretty much everything, one crybaby does not like something and whines and cries and they get their way and everyone else gets screwed! i make sure to always keep a very good eye on my neighbors and such so if the shit hits the fan i have ammo on them! it's my piece of land i keep it clean for the neighbors to see, if their is a problem i talk to the neighbors and let them know and ask the same from them if their is a problem, so if the neighbors are happy so should the city, after all my tax dollars pay their damn salary!

 

A guy in my town had his neighbors send abatement out to his property. They gave him 48 hrs....then came out and crushed a '71 Dodge Demon (complete car), three D100 pickups (all complete, one with a 440 under the hood), a '67 and a '68 Barracuda (one was a Formula S) and two Chrysler 300's with cop suspension upgrades, front discs and 440's. The thing that really irritates me the most, besides the nosey neighbors (he lives on 9 acres or rural, mostly unseen land) is that instead of calling friends and saying "give me $300 for this or $500 for that and take them out of here", he let them ALL get crushed!! What an ass...

 

About 2 years ago I had to sell a really clean 66 Mustang that used to be my daily driver due to the city I live in. The rear end gears burned up and the car was not driveable. So I had it in my driveway, It was registered but the city told me it had to be moved because it was non-functionable. I had no where to keep it so I had to sell it for dirt cheap. I hate my city.

 

More to the story than that, no way in hell can they come in in 48 hrs and do that, he had to have pushed to the end, if they did they would have been served with a nice lawsuit.

 

How did they know it was not operable? as long as the reg is paid not a damn thing thay can do, park it in the street and move it every 72 hrs. put a cover on it in the drive and let the plate show.

 

Rodhotz I agree...I think he was trying to make the situation look like it was impossible and that he had no time to call anyone. He has my number and I told him he was a royal jerkoff for not calling me about the Demon...I offered him $2,500 a year ago simply because it needed a complete restoration. It still had the numbers matching 340 in it and was a 4 speed car. He wanted $5k for it and I think he let it get crushed just to spite me for not paying his price... now he has nothing.

Holy shit, this is worse than overhere!!! well,almost. The same rules apply as in, the veichle must be operable, registerd and insured or gets towed and by by, but that never stopped me from workin on my cars on the street, as i almost always never had a gargage, at least not big enuff to fit a car! i had a warning for having the truck on stands but was ok w/ that too. i dont know about the 72 hours rule, but i better check that out, as now the same truck has a cracked head or sticky valve or whatever and is sittin in the same place collecting notices of not pay'd parking since last month!.....i moved and i only check once a week....fingers crossd.
Still im still ok only cause in the area where i live they have more important stuff to take care, but if the place was quite enuff i bet they would make their income out of this kinda stuff.
As for the neighbour issue i really feel for you guys, i know what its like to have your privacy invaded, i had almost every possible kind of jerk neighbour over the years and its not fun 4 someone that always mind its own biz. I left an apartment few years ago cause i had an idiot that bought the apartment just under mine and kept complainin for stuff like dropping a coin late at night and similar stuff, then he thought that i was doin satanic rituals in my garage (really) while i was just doin my thing w/my bikes and my car till late, plus at the time i was single and i had a few girls comin at my place lets say often, he complained to the administrator that i had prostitutes coming all hours of the day....i mean, cmon!Its not like i had more than one a day! maybe one a week was already a lot! Prolly never had one in is whole life. looser!
At one point i think after more than a year i beated the shit outta him, but in the end i left cause it was too much to bear and looked like nothing was stopping him... now every time i meet a guy thats a p.i.t.a. i give him his name! After a few years i laugh about it, but trust me it was frustrating.

I think one of my neighbors reported me. He kept stopping by and asking if I wanted to sell and I told him no and what was wrong with it. Then all of a sudden the city stared hounding me. It's just funny they made me remove my car but there is a P.O.S 57 Chevy around the corner from me that hasn't moved in over 5 years that is not registered and is covered in spider webs but he doesn't get any notices. It is also in the front driveway.

 

Move to the country and you can have as many cars as you want.

Not really. I know a (very rich)guy who has several hundred acres in the foothills.
As a hobby he takes a flatbed throughout the midwest and brings it back full of old cars and re-sells them here in CA. He has a LOT of very cool and desireable old tin.
I went to his ranch and there is no way anybody can see anything on his property - you literally drive for quite a long, long way AFTER entering his property before you get anywhere near where you can see his inventory of about 50 to 60 cars.
No way can any of his distant neighbors see anything.
But he got a notice to get rid of it all.
The county officials had flown over in an f'n airplane.
What they didn't realize is that he is a very well-connected dude who was able to pull some strings and shut down their attempts to hassle him.
An average guy would have been SOL.

well no offense but i would never live in the people republic of california. I live out in the county on 5 acres but they just built a subdivision behind me on 40 acres the old man that owned it died the greedy punk kids were too lazy to tend to the land and sold it to a developer. I used to hunt out there alot they didnt mind. once i heard they were selling off the land i tried to ask what was gonna happen to the ford fairlane and apache pickup truck but when i got over there their A-HOLE kids sent paid some guy to haul em off. probablly crushed.

I can see where people could complain. I mean you spend your hard earned money and some low life cant keep up his yard moves in and you have to look at his pile of crap. I have no problem if you have your stuff out of site or its atleast in some organized manor. for instance thers a guy that live on my street i dont care cause i live about 1/4 mile from the road and cant see anything. but when i ride buy he has a wooden childrens playhouse like on the ground he sits on the front porch and gets pis drunk all day he has two old trucks parked in the front and a stude parked in the back i seen it once when the gate was open. he has some sort of bull with 4 springs at each edge and rides it. he sits out there deep into the night with a fire pit. he has the black plywood cut out of people like the cowboy leaned up against a post on his fence he used to burn tires and his garbage until the county put a county wide burning ban because of the droughts we have had. he has no front lawn litterally its dirt and he has 3 to 5 push mowers out front and sometimes he will get drunk and cut the few weeds that grow on his dirt lawn and all it really does it kick clouds of dirt across the road.

my point being is that yeah your property is your porperty and no one elses and big brother should stay out but there is an extent. oh and since we live out in the county theres nothing they can do about his pile of crap.
