The Hunnert Car Pileup.... the best ****ing show ever. Opps, hope no ones kids are reading.... [IMG]

Very special THANKS to the Chrome Czars for the most awesome show that I've ever attended. If you live within a thousand miles and missed this event, well, you missed the car show event of the year. My hats off to the boys cuz it still kept that warm, fuzzy, friendly feeling despite the HUGE growth. It was a pleasure seeing lots of old friends and making new. Without further ado....

After a basicly uneventful Friday drive to Morris, IL we headed to Fool Bar to start the good times. The sidewalk was packed with friends from far and near and the street was packed with some of the most *****en traditional hot hots and customs that have ever been ***embled.

Dispite the unexpected line to get in at 10:30 when we arrived, we had a great time chatting and actually matching cars to faces and names. A great time waiting in line??? Who would have figured! [IMG]

Once inside in the gate we parked under some shade trees with the Deabeats and Draggins from Detroit and the RoadRockets from Indy. The VooDoo Kings were handing just a few yards away. Said our hellos, then headed off to check out all the cool cars that were continously pooring in. First stop was HAMB member ***us's.

When Roadstar asked me which car in attendance was my most favorite I said, without even having to think hard, this one. I think I remember BobK posting a photo of this from the BTTF's show this past June. I could be wrong, but it looks really familiar. Hung out for a bit hoping to talk to the owner, but one never showed. Dare I say, I'd marry the guy that gave me this car as a wedding present [IMG] [IMG] (no ring needed, just the car [IMG] )

While checking out the fine rides, my eyes kept wandering up toward the grandstands. I kept thinking to myself that I'd really love to take a few shots from way up there. I figured since lots of HAMB folks were being "hoodlums" at the Holiday Inn, I could break one of the "rules" at the track. So.... with Roadstar stating he wants no part of it, I hopped a fence by myself and headed for the grandstands. Wow, that was a LONG way up, but well wortht he effort. [IMG]

The building in the right forground had some project cars in it and alot of the vendors. The gr***y treed area to the top of the photo is were we made home base.

Kind of the middle of the event

The buidling on the left is where the AWESOME bands played and the FREE PBR was.

At 2pm we had a impromptu meet and greet. It was announced over the PA system but those by the bands didn't hear and others lost track of time. A very special THANKS to Joel, Peter Pan of Chicago, for making us a banner to hang. It will be taken to other events in the future and make it alot easier for HAMB members to gather and hang out. Thanks again Joel!

One of the friendlist, most down to earth, Detroit area car clubs is the "Poor Boys" who were at the PileUp in full force. They are one of the host clubs for BilletProof Detroit.

Dirty's little pickup is one of my most favorites running around town.

    Roy's from the Indy Roadrockets.

Lots of unusal hood ornaments around and.....

other interior bits and pieces on cars.

Chrome Czars front and center. A very cool lineup of rides.

Drew's *****en new ride. Last year at the Pilup I took a photo with two children sitting on a haybale in the shell of the body of this car. From that to this, in under a year....AMAZING!

HAMB member "Detroit Torch" in his Caddy shootin flames. He told me he went thru 7 gallons of disel fuel while at the fairgrounds. He torched the deck lid so bad the paint was coming off in HUGE sections, one 6 by 6 inch piece he handed me to keep and put in a s****book right next to a couple of photos of his flamming Caddy.

  4. Great pics Denise!

The line to get in was different. I spent 2 & 1/2 hours taking pics of rides coming in, one by one. It was a great way to get pics. I brought 20 rolls of film with me and only shot 9 or 10. I spent alot of time jabbering and it was FUN.

A 'lil side note: I believe Magnet personally checked every ride in to the show, and personally thanked just about every one for coming as the participant rides left. He manned that gate the entire day. The man has got stamina and tons of CL***. Great show.

It was great seeing you and Rudy, Denise. You guys ROCK!...and the cookies were DEELICIOUS! [IMG]

good arial shots. i was thinking on the ride home i should have gotten a higher vantage point and gotten some layout shots.

the Fools bar was great. Levis Cl***ic, ****o and I rode to the bar with Murray in his bigger than life flame belching Caddy. Murray lit off the flame throwers in front of the bar shooting twin fireballs as big as a bus seconds before realizing that the Fools bar was directly across the street from the POLICE STATION!!! [IMG] luckily there were no Police in sight and we quietly found a parking spot and made our way inside.

Geeeez! I thought I would be unique by using the "Camera on a stick" to get some overview shots.

    CHEATER!

It was great seeing you again and getting to meet some HAMBERS!

Too bad the 'Rulers and Rockstars' are too cool for a little meet and greet...

I'm new to the scene but that was the coolest car "show" I've ever been to - and I've been going to them for 14 yrs (I'm 29)... I've done the musclecar thing, done the great big truck thing, now I'm gonna try to build an A-bone with a flattie or an early olds. Got 4 bodies and 3 frames and a flathead core to start with, so hopefully I can make friends with my welder soon and have at it...

BTW - I was impressed by that Magnet guy too. Super nice guy. I think that was the first time I've ever been thanked for coming to a show.

I must have taken 15 pics of that poor boys ride. That was BAD! He gets my vote for best ride - with a close second going to the kustom who burned the paint off his trunk during the show. "Dirty" is the man if he drove it all the way from Motown (and I have no reason to believe he didn't).

I love this stuff - compared to all the other types of cars/trucks/race cars, old school rods have just got more SOUL. Here goes nothin'...

LMFAO... ya to bad, they missed out on all the cookies and brownies too! [IMG]

Seriously though, I LOVE making treats for my friends that enjoy them. You are all more then welcome! I made sure I made enough so I wouldn't run out all weekend. This is the first time ever I've come home with some. I guess 10 batches of cookies and 2 batches of brownies was just a couple batches too many. [IMG]

it was bad***. I felt weird driving my POS car through all those sweet rides...but I think I had the only car with a parking permit for college dorms on it...what was weirder was when people were taking pictures of my POS and giving me thumbs ups.

BTW me and my buddy painted it in the walmart parking lot in morris on the way to the show on saturday.

Chad, I don't believe the comment was geared toward you at all. It was just bad timing that the Meet and Greet was the same time your band was playing. More prep regarding a time for HAMB folks to meet should have taken place last week. No ones fault but ours. Not yours, thats for sure. You and the rest of the Czars had tons of other stuff to worry about. I feel bad I didn't even think about actually bringing you guys some cookies to the band shell area. My bad. [IMG]

  17. If the Pile Up is at the speedway next year, then a more organized "Meet'n Greet" will take place.

I'm gonna make another, larger banner and make some stanchions so it can be put up anywhere on the grounds.

I really wished I coulda met more HAMBr's. There are are so many I wanted to meet.

    Next year!!!

That's cool. Sorry, I'm beat... but I just had to see some of the pics from the show. I feel like I only saw like 30 cars the whole time. It was a blast, but make no mistake it took alot of work, and would not have been possible for us without the help of ALOT of people. I saw the HAMB sign and I thought **** I wonder when that was. Bummer.

I still can't believe the show. It's going to take a few days for it all to soak in.

Chad, PM me your snail mail address and I'll get you a CD in the mail tomorrow. It's the least I can do for all your hard work. I got shots of a couple hundred cars and some of the other "action" that revolved around the show.

I also want to say a big thanks the czars, and all who made it work at the show,I'm only to sorry to see the ******** that went on outside,at the motels, etc. Not a good image for the townfolk,I'm sure.I had a blast, met more great people, and totally got my buddy hooked that rode down with his old chevy. He too is an old timer, with many car shows and events under his belt, and said by far that this was the coolest car show hes been to.I just hope whoever was responsible for pulling the alarm at 1:00 A.M. at the holiday inn,and causing the fire dept.and ambulances to have to show up for their childish ******** gets a healthy fine,What are they still in grade school?First time in a motel?Sorry, but that is only gonna stop any chance of being invited back to nice places like this!!Hope I'm wrong,'cause it was an awesome job by the guys to put this on,Thanks again, magnet Joe,and everyone else,The cars were awesome,Me and the wife couldnt stop talking about what we should do to our projects all the way home,I think I'll see more of her in the garage this winter, thats a good thing!!

The fliers were friday night, fire alarm saturday and I heard the fire department say it was a smoke alarm that got set off. Regardless, I had a good time and appreciate everyone's effort to bring so many awesome cars into one place along with good cookies and brownies.

    I had an awesome time.

My Mom, Dad, Uncle and Aunt showed up right at the same time as the HAMB meet so I had to go and "babysit" them. They aren't car people at all and were amazed to see my truck on the shirt, even though I told them about it before. I spent a good portion of the afternoon with them so I did not get to talk to a lot of people I wanted to when I saw them walk by. Oh well, maybe next time.

I got a ride down to the bar Saturday night with ContinentalJohn and got really ****ed up. Everybody found out what a ****head I really am. Tyler (FltBlk) gave my drunk *** a ride back to the hotel. I had to fold in half to ride in his little truck. He's hard core driving that thing all the way from Texas.

Max Wedge was giving demonstrations on how to jump start a car in the Hotel parking lot.

Yngrodder tore my *** up and I still have the marks from it. I was even showing people in the parking lot.

    Here is my new friend.

<font color="green">FLT-BLK and MarkX met up with the Tulsa THEM! last night around 8? and we went back to "Rancho de RASH" where we lived vicariously through their tales of "flame-outs".

Completely miserable weather to be driving in but we couldn't talk them into staying.

They bailed out (literally) around midnight and followed Monkey from my place off 66 back to 75.

They were talking about getting a room somewhere along 75. I hope they did.

It was good to see you guys and MarkX's car looks incredible!

This buick was awesome. It broke a spindle Saturday night in front of our hotel. The dude got it loaded up on a trailer his buddy brought down for him Sunday morning.
