Talking about junk yard movies, anyone remember one where a guy builds a rocket in his junk yard, with the plan to fly off into space? Must have been late 70s or early 80s. I vaguely remember seeing it at the drive in. Doc.
Don't remember a movie but there was a short lived TV series called Salvage One with Andy Griffith where he built a rocket in his junk yard that was reusable and he used it to salvage all the space junk in orbit http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Launchpad/9782/salvage1.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HODkJABWo08
maybe it was called Steel Magnolias? there was a lot of drag racing in that one, but the movie that has the most drag stuff in it was called Priscilla, Queen of the Desert...
Yeah it was an episode of "Tales From The Crypt" and was called "King Of The Road". Season 4, Episode 9. It starred Brad Pitt before he was famous. Brad drove a '68 Chevelle and challenged the Ice Man to a race by kidnapping his daughter. The Ice Man was an ex-street racer turned police officer that went to the junkyard and retrieved a bitchin' Grey '57 Chevy that was kept in indoor storage by an old friend. Kinda corny but fun to watch. You can find it in Youtube.
Nads - Don't screw around with Wallace and Grommit, man! Get it right. It was called A Grand Day Out and was thier finest work. I don't believe Brad Pitt was in it, but he may have played one of the mice who help them build the rocket ship in their garage - those guys are some badass fabricators (especially Grommit, natch)! Oddly, I never watched Tales from the Crypt, but happened to see that episode one night while surfing - what a jaw dropper that was! Hope this helps clear things up.
