Well, got to work today, [dealer body shop in Monroe Mich], to find some low lifes broke in last night and cleaned out about half of everyone's tool boxes. They pried open all the tool box drawers. [Snap on boxes are not as secure as you'd think]. Took all the sockets, wrenches, pliers, etc, a lot of the air tools, a few sanders and other things. Left the bigger stuff and specialty stuff, [maybe too big to haul or not as easy to unload?], so we have 5 guys standing around making a list for the police report and still waiting to find out about the insurance. So maybe if anyone comes around your way in the Toledo Ohio, Downriver Mich area trying to sell some tools ,maybe get a license number, or see if any of them have initials engraved in some of them such as RM GB AM TA or MW and give me a call at 734-735-0939 if they do. Some but not all were engraved although I'm sure they are grinding them off now. I know there's little chance of seeing them again but it never hurts to put the word out, and if you live in this area you may want to recheck how secure your stuff is, as these guys knew just what they wanted to take. Thanks for any help and hopefully all your stuff stays safe. Rick.

I live in SE Mich. I'll keep my ear to the wall, and eyes open.
Hate to say it..but chances are you'll never see any of it again.

is the shop going to cover your loss?

  6. The stuff will be sold fast. One time at Pomona swap, a uhaul truck came in about 1am and it was full of tool boxes. The guys were swarmed by buyers. The guys didn't know what was in the drawers. Tell me the stuff was not hot...probably stolen that night. I didn't buy anything after I came to that conclusion.

They sold everything in a few hours and left.

I hope you find your tools. Check pawn shops and any swap meets in the area.

  7. Thanks for the info;I'll keep an eye/ear on anything around the Genesee county area.

I like the Arab method of dealing with thieves-remove the left hand;there's a special significance in doing that, especially in the Muslim world. Research it and you'll see what I mean.

I know about the left hand thing, good idea. No pawn shops real close that I know of. Also I know the chances are slim to none of getting them back, still waiting on insurance info. Thanks guys. Rick

If the shops insurance won't cover it for you see if your homeowners will. You'll have a deductable but depending on the amount it might be worth it. Maybe get work to pay the deductable.
