Yep, thats the one! are you here often?
Back to this, what Cleatus said is intresting, i wonder what is the real reason behind this. I mean money is the more common answer apparently, but i suspect theres more to it, afterall im not sure they can get some kind of income by using a helicopter to spot "private junkyards" , the costs for flying the heli' alone would kill the ops. But then what do i know?
Buncha *******s anyway, corporate suits and politics are the same worldwide, worse thing ever happened to mankind!

Sad thing is guys that this isn't out of the norm. There was this really old guy here in town who had 42 acres. He had a small brush fire where CDF had to come out and put it out. Yeah, it could have gotten out of control but they were right on it and only about 1/4 acre burned...out in the middle of a field away from any trees or structures. Anyway, a week later abatement comes out and gives him notice that he needs to remove some cars. This is about the time that I stopped by to see about a '71 ******* he had sitting in barn that I heard about from a friend. So, I walk up and he gets all nervous...afraid I'm from abatement. I tell him who I am and who sent me and he's cool with me... Long story short after showing me the ******* he tells me he has a few other cars he needs to get rid of...we hop in his pickup and go for a ride. After about 4 minutes on a rough unkept road we pull up under a 3 or so acre grove of oak trees...completely out of sight, we pull up to Mopar heaven. 6 Barracudas from '67 to '69 (one vert, 4 fastbacks and one coupe)...two of them are Formula S cars and another has a 383 in it and one is PERFECT in every way except for windshield and no engine. He has 4 police equipped Polaras, another *******, a perfect 68 Coronet, a pristine 69 Satellite hardtop and a demolished 69 Roadrunner 440 6pak with a clean VIN, about 6 Ram pickups...all 440's and one 383, and a 6X10 crate FULL of stainless trim, taillights, intakes, HP exhaust, disc brake setups, 3 or 4 RB engines and enough to build 3 or 4 more...it was INSANE. I had a woody and was feeling very cotton mouthed and very lightheaded. SO I ask about the *******, the RR and Satellite, the Barracudas and the crate. He wants 15K for all of it. So I reduce my aspirations to two Barracudas and the RR/Satellite combo...with the trim I'd need to complete the cars....he says 6K. I only had 4K in my pocket and he says no...had the cash RIGHT then and there. It is now November 3rd and the crusher is coming on Nov 11th... I PLEAD with him and ask why he would want $300 a ton instead of 4K? I think he was just too old and couldn't even reason it out in his mind. I called every day for the next 6 days...went out on the 10th with all I could s****e together...5K. He said no. The next day it was ALL crushed except the ******* in the barn that they didn't know about. In all 37 cars were crushed...20 of which were completely restorable and had clean ***le. Caliscrewya is one of the WORST states to live in...and it will only get worse with all the enviro this and caps and trades that. Bottom line...hide your projects and make VERY good friends with your neighbors and NEVER let ANYONE you don't know snoop around your yard.

HOLY **** MAN< THAT ****S!!!! Well alot of the Nor Cal Demo derby and Lincoln guys and gals knew about the Lincoln farm just south of Willows. The guy collected 56-75 Lincolns. He had over 400 cars on his property which was an old Dairy, also some Model A parts, a few caddies and 2 cherry 1957 Ford 2 dr Hardtops. Again, long story short when he died his son took over, sold about 40 of the Lincolns and then you guessed it........had the crusher come in and crush the rest!!!! Sad Sad Sad!!! Holy sheep****.....

Old bloke shoulda taken the 5K when he coulda and saved the friggin cars...what a ****in watse of killer MoPar raw material.

He musta been gettin too old like you said.

What I don't understand is how could these vehicles be deemed an eyesore on a decent sized PRIVATE property in a rural area and the vehciles are out of SIGHT ?

On top of this, the cars are ***led and are the legal property of the said owner - how can they DESTROY someone else's PERSONAL property without legal ramifications in the "sue me" state? Can someone pls expalin what the hell is going on with this??

Sounds like you Cali guys are gettin screwed with this big brother ********. Then again, everything that happens in Cali our ****wit pollies here tend to want to implement here for the same reasons yours have.

Makes me sick to my core.

  7. I had a customer that lived in a tight upscale neighborhood. nothing was allowed to be visable from the street. the maximum fence was 6 feet. he got a permit to extend his patio to the back fence (about 40 feet) he had 4 feet of dirt removed from the entire back yard and had lambeams installed over the entire yard and green plastic roof gave him over 7 feet of head room for his 30 plus cars

  8. county officials and inspectors need to be shot, stabbed , burned alive and flogged!

yes, i do mean it. and yea i would.

lucky my property is out of their reach, or i'd be in jail by now for burning down the ****er's house with him in it.

  9. California gets the government it deserves, frankly, if people didn't keep voting in ***holes, they wouldn't live in a near police-state.

Zoning laws should be uncons***utional, but until someone with the bucks to go to the supreme court on a zoning violation gets nailed, they're a fact of life. So it's your responsibility to learn the codes and find out what's legal and what's not. And YOU need to learn the codes, because the inspectors will lie and make things up and may not even know the law themselves in the first place, they count on your ignorance to get you to comply with their storm-trooper tactics.

And realize in some places you just cannot win because the codes are so ambiguous that a zoning officer can legally har*** you for as long as he wants to. Going into court may or may not help, because the judge can be a ***** too. So then you end up with a choice - take matters into your own hands, or move.

Personally I say move and burn the house down when you go so it deprives them of the property tax revenue on it. That's why you see so many empty buildings get torn down, it's cheaper to pay once to do that than to pay to maintain it and pay the higher tax rate because it's still there, annually.

Also, you generally get less jail time for arson than for murder.

  10. There are a certain 2 females and a san fran mayor that are in the big house that need to go, nothing but trouble and the broads have been there way to many years, but as said the dumb ***es keep voting them in go figure!

The reason they can do this is because part of the zoning laws include a code that considers anything over a few non-functional cars as "running an unauthorized salvage yard" and without the certificate stating you have been licensed to run said salvage yard you are out of compliance. It doesn't matter if you have 9 acres or 900. There was a guy up here named Neil Petersen who was the most knowledgeable old yard dog you ever met. One time I asked him to borrow a 9/16 to take a part off a truck and he said,"go down to where the red '57 is, turn left and go around the milk truck and just in front of the rear bumper there's a puddle of water...reach in there and you'll find a 9/16..." No joking, it was there. He wasn't the most organized or cleanest, but he had around 400 cars and his yard PREDATED the compliance codes. The way they ran him out of business was they forced him to fence his 30 or so acres for safety reasons and when he did so they tagged him for "estimated" back taxes...claiming he was making a LOT more income than he was reporting.

Nevada City is one of the worst offenders - they're a bunch of tree hugging free love hippie throwbacks who hate ANYTHING that is cool looking, fast, or cl***ic that reminds them of their burn out days when they had to hitch a ride from the guys who actually earned a paycheck, bought and knew how to work on their muscle cars and hot rods.

  12. I think we have more here now that they do!!

  14. I couldn't even listen to the whole thing. What a dip****..BUT, that is how most of our younger generation is turning out to be.

The biggest issue with the zoning thing is that the average Joe does not have the $$ to fight it. They pick the people that they think are a source of funds via fines. They know old car guys will hold out and maybe pay something to save their hobby.
They don't bother with the people up the street from me that are "minorities", renters, and running a fully advertised s**** operation from their house.
They park trucks in front of their place with "we pick up s**** metal and cars" on the doors. They advertise with signs all over, in the local paper and pennysaver, probably the spanish publications too.
No one says **** to them, but they come h***le me..white guy, homeowner, old car guy...
Just because they think they can get a few bucks out of me. Guess again!

Here in Ohio they are doing random insurance inspections by mail. You have this car registered please send in proof of insurance in X amount of days or your drivers license will be suspended and you will be fined.
I guess its been going on a few years. I just got one this year. My Township I live in has a registered vehichle law. Ever vehichle must be registered and able to move on its own power. They dont really bother you unless you have junkers tarped. It doesnt matter if its in the back yard or driveway. It use to matter, I was told if its past the corner of the house we have no authority over it. Well they do now!
I had a guy behind me moved into an old farm house and started some sort of tune up business.
Hes right on the road so they were watching him. The Township zoning inspector came to my house me in the driveway and was trying to see how to climb over fences to get license plate pictures to run them with the county sheriff.
I told him hes got some big *** pit bulls back there to keep people out. He just kept going.
They fined his *** and he moved out. They were on him for unregistered vehichles.
I told him to pull in his driveway and ask, he didnt respond.

  16. Ya know what is so pathetic is that is our future! these kids are being taught by a bunch of left over tree hugging hippies that have their own thoughts on how everybody should be! i got about 30 sec into it and could not take any more.
