Hi, intro time, my name's Neil and I hail from Colchester, England and as the subject title says I'm yet another one of the 4 banger fetishists from dear ol' Blighty. I've been doing the nostalgia hot rod thang for over 15 years now, starting off with a scarily fast small block powered 23 T bucket, and have now progressed on to building a Winfield equipped. model A powered 29 sport coupe. Take a look at the Jack Rose car on page 53 of "When The Hot Rods Ran" and you'll get some idea of the direction I'm going in. I'm also leaning together a 24 T roadster pick up with a 64 Chevy motor for go, kinda gone full circle with that one I guess. Couple of photos below to show what I'm up to.
Neil, Clark Here, good to see you on here now. I just joined up last week. Is the A banger any closer to being finished? I'm already moving on to stage two! Any chance I could come over and have a sneaky peek? Think I need to see what I'm up against.....
Welcome! HOw is 'Coldchester?" I always stay with my wifes aunt and uncle in Chelmsford when we are over and I've spent some time getting rained on in Colchester. Keep us posted on the banger as I can't get enough of em and hope to build one, one of these days! Ted
Yo Banger! Er, I mean The Wrong-Un... Good to see you on here. Don't know why your photos aren't working, maybe it's something to do with your Shutterfly account (?). Here's the only photo I have on my work PC. Gotta get that car finish, bud, the four-bangers are taking over
Here's another view, it's in a tight workshop so it's the best I could do, I'll wheel it out soon and take some more.
Welcome to the HAMB! I was into Ford 4 Banders heavily back in the 1970's, and find myself wanting to build another for the street. There is a B block with a drilled C crank and Winfield intake and BB carb on the shelf waiting for a head.Once bitten...never cured.
Here's a picture of the T project as well, as I said it is only leaning together at the moment. More work will progress in the future. As to it being "Coldchester" it's certainly getting that way now Summer's over. Still looking forward to roaring around in the snow in a hot rod, those Southern California boys don't know what they're missing! So Clark, what's stage two?

Thanks for the last photo. Than answers the steering column/header on a right hand drive question I was going to ask. Are there many left hand drive cars in England?
Hi Neil - notice you're still using pink string wishbone mounts! "Wrong-Un" eh? Did you're mother give you that name? Here y'go Clark, haven't seen it recently, but you're safe until he puts some wheels on it...
Welcome to the H.A.M.B. I love 4 bangers! I like your garage to, seems to have an old timey feel to it.
In school all of our lathes were South Bends except for one Colchester, a really nice machine and my favorite. Made many BSA and Triumph parts on it. Nice banger
Phil, the Wrong-Un has a lot to do with Little Britain, far too many beers and a running gag at Hemsby a couple of weeks back. I'll explain more when I see you next. In answer to the question of left hand drive cars in England, most people tend to go for LHD on nostalgia cars, partly due to the availability of parts and partly in an endeavour for greater authenticity.
Oh, I thought we had LHD for pinching the bottoms of girls on bicycles whilst we drove past. Shows how wrong you can be! took my four banger out at the weekend. Can't see what the fuss is all about, wheezy ol' thing. Darren said I should take the fenders off. Don't think it'll help...
