I am looking at 35-37 Ford trans that is for sale locally. I'm not real familiar with these early transmissions, but the shift tower seems odd looking. I know the '39 is vertical with no angle, and I thought '35-39 all where. The shift lever looks to be '39. Is this the correct '35-'37 shift tower? Thanks.
From everything that i can see in the picture, it is 1935. The stick, the tower, as well as the transmission mount.
Brendog is right, Lincoln is on the side. The shifter looks '39, but the tower has an angle to it. The fork measures 2.75" across the openning. I'll get a bettter look at it today, as I'm just going off pictures. Thanks for the feedback.
That is the early top, basic design used '32-5, yours is '33-5 because no holes for 1932 emergency brake. Shifter does look '35. Trans looks '35, is no earlier than '35 because fits later clutch sizes...betcha a nickel serial number on trans works out to 1935.
This old post gives you info to identify transmissions and their innards: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91515&highlight=1939+trans+prices&showall=1
