Everyone is always commenting about how big the car is, or god forbid calls it a "boat". Drove it over to the scales today and with approx. 1/3 tank of gas it weighs 3560lbs without a driver. I don't think thats bad for a full size Ford with a big block 429 Wedge and C6 auto? -Dean
Thats not bad at all actually, my little OT truck weighs about 2700 pounds with a alluminum headed 4 cylinder Considering you have that heavy *** 429 wedge between the rails, probably weights about 500lbs its self! Id say your doing good!
Aren't new Mustangs in that range (+/-) ? That's not really a heavy car unless you compare it to the asian thin tin and plastic **** and who would want one of those?
Your right. A few years ago. I had a '50 Merc with a 302 sb Ford. 4 speed and the original rear end with 4.27 gears (came in an overdrive car). It weighed about the same but would put the spankin' on many 5.0 Mustangs. Sure miss seeing the expressions on the faces of the guys who just had their pride and joy beat by a "big" old car.
I know it's off topic, but the new Dodge Challenger weighs about 4100#, of course it's loaded with all the "power" accesories too, it's too bad they don't make a stripper model. I had a '64 Dodge station wagon that only weighed 3650#... looked like a tank though.
Featherweights. The Byooik (1960 Buick LeSabre 4dr HT) with a half tank of gas weighed 4770 lbs on the scales at a local rock quarry. Stuff my 225lb *** in it, you got 2 1/2 tons of Beast comin at you.
I believe they do have a stripper model, except its not street legal. Its the challenger drag race package. You could just buy a challenger with no little to no interior options, bench floorshift, radio deleat, roll up windows! But i doubt they would let you, power everything seems to be the standard now
