Don just slammed on the brakes all 4 times when he did the brake test. He didn't even try not to lock 'em up. Huge style points for him on this one. Large trails of tire smoke from all four tires and lots of squeeling. He was having fun!

I got Don's crash on video, but I didn't bring my video cable to download it to my lap top. I did play the video on the hotel's tv and then took pics of it. I knew you guys would want to see it. The quality is low, but hey... it's the best I can do right now.

The car goes to the left as it shifts to second gear:

Don got his coupe turned back to the left just as the front hit the wall... Some good driving on his part. It could have been a head-on hit instead of the glancing blow it was...

Awesome post guys, some killer pics. I'd have to say this is the best post I've read since I joined. We should all do the road trip thing! Have a safe trip. Any chance your taking the northern route home and not going through Vegas? I'd love to check out that coupe.

The front hubby, fender, brake drum fins, shock and tie rod all received damage from the hit.

The rear needs fender repair also, but I don't think the damage on the rear is as bad as the front.

WOW! First look into this thread. It's much better than a magazine. Loudpedal, this is a 'historic, one for the book's' trip you've made. Congraulation's, your hard work and planning has rewarded you.

    Outstanding; what a great chronicle.

What horrible thing did Don do to deserve his wretched luck?

1/4 mile times? Was Don able to get a clean run in, or did he call it a day after his "incident"? He was my favorite to win at the dragstrip.

Awesome thread LP! Thanks! [IMG] You guys are all lookin' good and having way too much fun.

Too bad about Don I was really hoping to see what he could do with good traction on a clean p***. I know he put a lot of work into the coupe this year.

Ps I really felt bad for Don when i saw it happen......but man he sure is a good sport about it all. And No Don didn't run again after that. I was kinda scared to see anyone else go after that.

We made it to the NHRA place this morning. We had a *****in breakfast there. They announced the winner this morning also, but out of respect for the magazine, I don't think I should give away any details.... Sorry guys..

We then went to Ed Martin's garage for an after party. We only stayed for a hour or two and then we made tracks to Las Vegas.

Right now I'm chillin' in the Hotel after valet parking the coupe (rock star style, right up in front of the Hotel). Deek and I are going to go out on the town. I'll post a few pics now, and I'll post the rest in the morning / afternoon.

    Here come the pics:
