Man this show was great, I loved it, Great place to have a show,

Just like the Roundup, I walked past the rats or should i say the stuff I did not like.

If you made it to the awards ceremony you would have seen what got awards.

there was not a car in that corrall that I would not have loved to own

Congrats to Danny for the award for his killer 32 truck,

Please come back next year, this show was awesome

    Oh, and before I forget. . .

One of the things that will make this COMPLETELY memorable for me is this. . .

As we rolled in to the fairgrounds, after a GREAT cruise in, my passenger, Kustom7777 (Jim), said, "Look what's behind us. . .a 60' Edsel"

I was like, "Bullshit. No way. I'm always the lone Edsel at any show."

Yup. Lo and behold, clean 4 dr 1960 Ranger parked right behind me. :D

    Again, absolutely, freakin' Priceless.

Wow, I wake up to drama over what I though was a pretty good first show.
    There's always one complainer.
I can't help but take offense personally since I am technically the HOST and reason the show came to Giddings---this has been discussed since Kirk's reign and I think the grounds worked out perfect for the show and our Volunteer Fire Department made a lot of money from beer sales----a cause I wholeheartedly support.
Those were my "carnies" at the gate. Sorry we didn't feel the need to hold your hand and park you---must be my punk rock roots.
Sorry you didn't like the Leroi Bothers---make some suggestions for next years bands---geez the first half dozen Billetproofs didn't even have bands.

Since I have known Kirk for over a decade and have been to most of the Billetproof shows I feel I can say that this show carried the right spirit---get together with your car friends, hang out for a day and make new like-minded friends. People get way to caught up in the "RULES"---this was all originally done tongue in cheek to kind of guide people who have no idea what a traditional car is. It is more about the spirit of the rules than the actual rules themselves.

I want to personally thank everyone who came out and braved the heat---rest assured next year's show will be on a cooler weekend.
I had a blast catching up with people I don't get to see often enough.

...oh, and MERC, your coupe would have been more than welcome!

Ya done good man!!! for a first in a new location it went great.I was one of the guys parked in the burnout area. We really apreciated the way you came and talked to us about moving. Some would have been a--holes and made us move. You handled it diplomaticly and I thank you for that. As for the show, great!! next year can only be better. The cruise on sunday was cool. We didnt go on it. We were the couple sitting on the side of the park road watching everyone go by. Again, let me reiterate YA DONE GOOD...

The ride out was awesome. Nice and cool and didn't get warm until mid-morning really. Wasn't hot until midday and didn't get sweltering until around mid-afternoon or so. It's Texas in July so it was kind of expected. I saw some people I've known for years and hung out with folks I'd never met. The venue was much better than I thought it would be.

I saw cars I'd never seen before and that's cool because I go to every event I can reach and have gas money for. Rat rods? I don't give a shit. Guys build what they like and I've seen plenty of details on those cars that I thought was pretty cool even if not executed on my style of car.

The rules? Sure I saw cars inside that I thought had "questionable parts" given the nature of the rules but the cars I saw outside certainly didn't fit the flavor of the show. Who cares? Didn't ruin my day one way or the other.

Promised myself I wouldn't shoot video but ended up with about two hours of footage and very few pictures. I'll have something up soon to show folks.

As far as the carney comment goes. You're obviously not aware that you're talking out of your ass about people that you don't know...so I'll leave it at that.

Actually pre-reg was $30... and reg at the gate was supposed to be $35.. to encourage pre-registration... through a mis-communication registration at the gate was also $30... Merry Christmas :D

Trust me, I'm not trying to get bogged down in negative comments...if someone didnt like the show, thats cool.. if someone has a valid citicism, thats cool.. insults and accusations? Not cool at all.

The show was a succes all the way around in my mind. Most everyone had fun (myself included), the city/fairgrounds/fire dept. were happy *, the vendors did good business, the cars were great, I made new friends... thats pretty much what its all about.

We've already started making plans for Billetproof Texas 2010, so no worries there.

    * the fire dept did just about their best day ever in beer sales, that $ all goes to support them. The grounds keeper said the crowd was one of the cleanest that use the grounds. The city was pleased with the crowd that came and is already talking about ways they can help make the show better. Alton, the goundskeeper even got his golf cart pinstriped !!! Way cool.

Billetproof hasnt been $10 since when? 2001?

I always price Billetproof entry fees below most other shows... Lone Star Round Up is $50, Santa Maria is the same, THEM Hot Rod Invasion is $30... Billetproof is right in their with all the rest.

What the PoorBoys charge for their show is completely up to them. I was sad to miss Midnight Mass this year. How was the show?

I would like to make the show next year. Thanks Marcy for putting it on. It takes a lot of coordination and behind the scenes effort.

Yep, i know what Billetproof started out as. Lots of car shows charge more for registration than they did 8-9 years ago... I'd venture to guess most of them do.;)

Good Guys also charges $ for the membership, you get a monthly mag with that, and its a good one, KIRK! does a great job with it.

Good to hear that Midnight Mass was a hit. One of my fave shows, the PoorBoys work hard to put it on.

  19. Well guys and gals, I enjoyed the show a lot. There was plenty of shade to stay out of the sun and it was cheap for spectators (my Apache's not drivable yet). I don't really have an opinion on the food vendor situation, bc we brought our own food and drinks, but there were definitely some cool cars there.

    Now for the evening agenda:

My group was a little confused about what was going on in the evening. For all of the hotels to be "sold out", when we rolled through town about 8:30, there was hardly anyone at the few hotels, so we figured they probably were all at the bowling alley where the after party was supposed to be. But, when we rolled up there, there were only about 7 cars in the parking lot (including our 2) and everyone was coming out leaving. They said the bowling alley was closing down, so I'm not sure what happened there. Since that was a bust, we were told to go to a little bar called Berneys behind Wal Mart, so we rolled over there. Of course, there were only a few cars there also. We decided to go in and have a few beers anyway, then just go back to the hotel. Needless to say, from about 9:15 to 11:30, there were only about 20 people in the place. IT SUCKED!! Just as we almost convinced ourselves to leave and head to Austin, Todd from The Hellions and some of his peeps rolled in, then more, then more, then more. Already long story short.....WE HAD A FKN BLAST! We were drunk, the locals were drunk, and a couple things happened that you don't see everyday in a public place:
    1. They played one of David Allen Coe's X-rated, not so minority friendly songs over the jukebox, and the best of all......
    2. Our buddy exited the bar from the bathroom BUTT ASS NAKED with his shirt tied around his head

We then went back to the Ramada parking lot, and watched some mean ass doughnuts from a few old rod trucks. We had a great time :) Sorry for those of you that missed this.

Well, I tried to go...but dropped a valve outside of Cameron (less than 50 miles from the show) and had to wait for a long ride on a stretcher back to Dallas.

Since I didn't get to make it there, the only thing I'd like to add is this...any show that helps to promote hot rodding in Texas is a good thing, and I'll do whatever I can to support it.

Thanks Marcy and Choptop for putting on the show....maybe I'll actually make it there next time.

The mod just delete my post responding to this comment:

"Merc.....You owe the lady an apology !!!Just my two cent worth!!!!!!!"

First, I did not say anything that deserves an apology to anybody.

    To the mod:

It appears to me that he is obviously meaning to deal with what somebody else said.

This deserves to be cleared up.

    Who is modding this today?

You really should fix or delete the other post since it is obvious he has me mixed up and is calling me out.

    Try being fair.

Holy shit what a bunch of crybabies!!! It's a car show, period.... It's supposed to be a good time and I for one, had a blast! Choptop, Marcy, thanks for doin what you did to make this happen and pay no attention to the whiners. I thought, for a first year show it was perfect. Sure, not all the cars there were my cup of tea but that is always the case no matter what show I go to. I have been pumped about this show all year. The '54 didn't make it so I drove my daily, had a blowout on the way, changed the tire and made to the show and had a great time. I will be back next year for sure, Haters be damned!

Hey Choptop, it looks as if one guy had a bad time. I don't have enough time to add up the post's of guys that loved it. Geez.
The first show will always have a few bugs to work out, sounds like the only thing was food and vendors being a small showing. The first Florida show was shallow on vendors too, but this year it was triple, I can't wait until the next year!!!!
They will just keep getting bigger and better.

Hey Alan and everyone involved thanks for a great first time show.
I hated the van couldnt make it after the 4,922 mile road trip but there was no way I would trailer the van there for anything.

I was lucky to make the first billetproof in florida and now the one in Texas, and I wont even acknowledge the B.S talking out of the ass in a few of the posts with a responce.

Thanks for adding to the great Texas hot rod experience that we have enjoyed since moving here from florida if you ever need anything from us all you have to do is ask.

Thanks for everyone who came by and bought prints to help with the cost of the engine rebuild.

Thanks again Alan,Marcy, and everyone else involved for a great time

I guess I am confused. Are they saying my Merc is ok because it doesn't have air or tilt chevy steering wheel, but my wife's 38 is not ok because it has both??? I am sorry we missed the show because it's not that far from home, however we were working in North Dakota that weekend. We could use some clarification on what is desired or not.
