I've been hanging around here for a few years, purchased a 51 chevy a couple years ago but there was more rust than car, so I got rid of it.

I was looking at a 50 plymouth but with your advice I p***ed. It was just WAY too expensive.

BUT,, I came upon an ad on ebay and just plain fell in love with the car, I picked it up on friday and drove it 190 miles home. been driving it this weekend and LOVE IT!! Now I need to find all the Pontiac guys on the board.

here is a link to the car.

Congrats slickchoppers. It's cool that it's so solid. If there is a vacuum leak, maybe that's contributing to the high operating temp. I'm sure you'll get it sorted out. I like the straight eights...surprisingly powerful (low rpm torque) and very smooth when tuned. Low idle speed too...the old joke is "You can almost read the fanbelt". Wishing you lots of fun with it. Rick

Thanks for all the information you guys have provided so far. I'm putting a picture in the post for those that don't want to upload the whole webpage above.

I'm still looking for a Repair / service manual for the engine and transmission so if anyone knows where those can be found please let me know. I'm sure the motor and ****** will eventually need some work, I would like to have the manuals on hand when they do.

Wow that's really really nice. I have a51 hardtop, but the motor is junk and it has a couple small rust spots over the headlights.

Working on a 51' Chieftan. Mine has the flathead 6, whomever ordered it must have thought that straight 8 was to much to handle:rolleyes:
