On my friend's 32 3W we mounted the license plate to a late model GM pickup factory license bracket with 2 illuminating lights to the lower support bracket of the trailer hitch dead center under the factory Ford gas tank.
These license brackets can be found under virtually any GMC or Chevy pickup new and never used. Bumpers were all dealer installed on older pickups and they simply unplugged the lights on the factory bracket and plugged in the wires to the new lights in the bumper.
Ford and Dodge likely have an equivalent piece.

I like flamedabone's the best so far.... the neat frame and license plate go together very nicely, and the pinstriping is the icing on the cake! My choice so far! ;)

Here's mine. 40 Olds wagon tailgate emblem used as a topper and a light. The clear lens is washed out by the desert sun; it should be colored on the back and it says: hydramatic drive. I'd rather it said Rocket. Maybe I can make one. The 37 handle is too noticable, so I'll find something plain and small.[IMG]

Here's mine. Da34guy and I flipped the stock bracket upside down (along with the light itself) and welded a tab to the bracket, then bolted it to the bottom of the body. You can barely make out the super bright LED's under the body. Not very traditional, I know, but they're HIGHLY visible when I'm on the brakes or the blinkers. Can't see them otherwise unless you're looking for them.

Hate to throw out an idea for scorn, but the back of that car will be so nice and clean, how about a retractable plate instead?

Here's mine...I see plenty mounted lower than this but I personally think it looks alot better mounted above the lowest body line than hanging over it.
