Hi, im building a 62 Falcon, and just finish the mock-up of my tilt hood hinges to see if they work like i hoped.. Well, they did,, woohooo.. heres a quick vid of it lifting.. When i finish the hood/fenders and put it in primer and put my scoop and bumper on i will get better pix and vid's. click the link for a small vid http://s236.photobucket.com/albums/...con/?action=view¤t=tilt-hoodopening.flv
More pics! That's an all-steel original front clip right? I want to do the same thing to my Comet; post up pictures!
Some bracing and you got it! Would like to see what you did for the hinge and how you intend on holding it open and closed. Just putting the finishing touches on a full tilt nose F100, video in a few days as we wrap up the latches. Getting it in place open is pretty simple but latching has always been odd. Here are a few I have done, not full nose but you get the idea. The F100 nose works pretty much the same way.
yes it is,, my hood and fenders are ****, so i decided to see if i could do this. I made a scoop too, cut the stock hood "scoop" off, and raised it 2-1/2 in at the front. The hood pulls out 4 inches then tilts. The hinges i did make sure i dont open sooner and crash the fenders (see pic of hinge open). I will be using support shocks to keep open and "mach1" sytle hood pins on the back. I will also make a clip type thing to slide the lower fenders in so they dont bounce around. Might be awhile till i get it all worked out and looking decent enough to make video's.. I got it done afew weeks ago, and always changing my ideas to make it simple. The frame part of the hinge is welded to the rail with 3 1-1/2 in spacers, and the hood part of the hinge rides on it with little roller bearings. My idea works so im thinking of getting them cut out of 1/4" stainless steel stock and a friend will cut with her laser cutter for a prisice fit. heres an album of my car and whats going on. http://s236.photobucket.com/albums/ff267/new_falcon_owner/falcon/
repairing the front fender sections this week, then will add the support shocks and re-enforce the hines.. hopefully update this weekend
