I have a question about an injection unit I picked up. The unit is a polished Enderle injection converted to EFI. The guy i bought it from said he was running a crank trigger so the computer could fully control the timing. my question is, I am stuck running a crank trigger? are there any other ignition options that can be completely computer controlled? The engine is a 461 bbc and is going into my 56 chevy or a 1951 chevy coupe i am trying to get my hands on. thanks

I know a megasquirt can use a computer controlled HEI for the ignition but I have no idea what the capabilites are of the computer that would have come with the Enderle unit. It may also depend on if the unit is batch fire or sequential. Over my head but hopefully someone else can help (i.e. bump).

EFI needs a reference to know where the timing is. The crank trigger is best since it's not hard to mount or sync up. MSD sells a nice flying magnet deal that bolts on to the balancer- easy.

I haven't heard of the HEI deal, but it makes sense.

The ECU I have is a F.A.S.T. unit circa 1999-2000 made by speed pro. The unit is bank firing, one side of the engine at a time. Sync-ing up the crank trigger is no biggie, its just that I am running a lower pulley, and would have to machine 3/8" out of the pulley to make up the thickness of the flying magnet. I am just wondering if there is a distributor that i can run instead.

You should be able to use any mag pulse distributor same as the crank trigger.
Either method ( magnetic pulse or hall effect can be done with a distributor.
Like the others said the crank is considered to be the best , however many of us drove to work today with a electronic gear driven distributor.
Find out which signal ya need for the FAST ecm and buy that kind of distributor...

Isn't that the distributor with the breaker plate that adjusts to the rotor position?

OK, so i contacted mallory a few months back about my tech question with no answer. I recently emailed MSD with my tech question and no answer back. Any got any more input for me?

    diego

Also i can not machine any thickness out of the lower pulley. so a flying magnet is out of the question

Call GMC BUbba. He set me up with a single point distributor converted to do what you need. Excellent work at even better prices.
