I feel really bad! Unable to sleep last Friday night, actually this happened early saturday at the host hotel, thus the reason for my blunder!!! I decided at the ungodly hour of 5:30 AM to jump in Kool Kat and run over to the truck stop for water and snacks for the show and shine that day. Since Kool Kat has strait pipes, I was really trying to keep the car as quiet as possible. There was one sweet little primered coupe sitting next to Kool Kat, it didn't have any mufflers either (oooops) I was admiring it before I got into Kool Kat to run my errand. I was in the process of putting one of our lawn chairs in our parking place with Kool Kat still running behind me, when this poor guy came tearing out of his room obviously thinking someone was in the process trying to steal his car! Needlesss to say this action totally surprised me, not having time to think, I stood there watching the changing expression on his just rudly awakened face, realizing what he was seeing. Before I had a chance to say anything, he just turned around and went back into his room. When I got back to our room, I told my Husband what had happened, pretty angry with myself for doing such a dumb thing that early in the morning. He thought it was funny!!!! I am not sure if he was laughing at me, or the stiuation. I truly wish now we had taken my Regal, at leat it has gl*** packs!!!! So, to the poor guy I rudely woke that morning, I am sooooo sorry!!!!

Loud pipes don't save lives, they save cars... from being stolen.

You did that at 5:30 am on saturday morning? It was time for him to get
up, he can sleep when he gets home. I'm sure he was pleased that it
    wasn't his car driving off....

This story reminds me of a good time we had in Ft. Smith years ago. one of the
guest was having problems sleeping (non-car guy) He must of had a condtion
because it was after midnight. He was tired of the noise so he walked to the
front desk to complain. they offered him a room in anohter hotel. He denied the
request because he was hear first. when he got back to his room, an hour later,
one of the car guys backed his car up to the guys room and let that six banger rapp
out. The whole parking lot was laughing.....

Don't be sorry Carrie I'm sure it was Ok...

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Kinda funny (I am sitting here grinning...) but, it's stuff like that that makes us look like ****s too...

if it wasn't too late, no biggie. But I'm a car guy and I'd be pissed if someone did that to me when it was late at night

Yes looking back it wasn't a proud moment in car history but it was twenty
years ago and we were alot younger. I still have to laugh..... Ha, ha, ha...

Remines me of the conversation I had just this weekend in Salina with BirdBuilt. Him and his Dad are coming to the HAMB Drags and he was deciding where to stay and I said you've GOT to stay at the host hotel it's going to be so much fun, blah, blah blah. He informs me that his Dad gets cranky when he doesn't get enough sleep. In that case he DOES NOT belong at the host hotel I said. :D

Anyone attending a car event and staying at the "host hotel" knows what they are in for and nothing should come as a surprise to them.

It was one of those "Kodac moments" for sure!!! Before I even started the car that morning, I got into the trunk and pulled out one of our lawn chairs and set it in front of the car before I even started it, thinking about just how loud those strait pipes are on starting, I figured once it was running, I could back the car out, put the chiar in our spot and save starting it again, once I had the chair in place. When the guy came tearing out of his room like that, my first concern was the running car behind me!!! One day, I may see the humor in this, but on that paticular morning, it was one of those "deer in the headlight" moments for me, so I got a real good look at the changing expressions on the other guys face. It is something I don't think I am going to forget for a loooooong time!!!!

I went to college with a deaf girl and she told this funny story about her and her deaf friends visiting Disney World in Florida. She left her motel (which was rather large) much like Buickbelle and when coming back she couldn't remember which room was hers. So, she held down the horn until the row of room lights came on and people came out with disgusting looks... some even yelling. She knew right away which room was hers because it was the only one that was dark and without upset "hearing" people throwing a fit.

Heh, I'm just remembering how my old shoebox Ford used to set off my neighbours car alarm when I started it. He loved it when I had early starts.

My Regal has a very sensitive alarm. Same thing happened at the host hotel in Dewey a couple of years ago. The 52 Pontiac with a big block in it had NO mufflers, just open headers, sitting next to my Regal, when he fired it up my alarm went nuts, he was mortified when I opened the door of our room with Key fob in hand laughing, he was apologizing all over the place, I told him it wasn't his fault that my Regal was a wimp!!!! We both had a good laugh.

  27. One should never appologize for being alive.

Never the less nice gesture. I'm sure the fella was just real glad it was your car that someone was stealing and not his.

Many Thanks to all the photos everyone has sent in. I found the car I was admiring that morning. I would appreciate it if you know who the owner is and p*** this on to him.
