Just fooling around - again. Came across this video which I thought was too cool. Bob Riggle and the Hemi Under Gl***. Included are footage of the Rollover Pickup, which I never even saw or heard of before. And some footage of Bob in the bed of the Backup Pickup while it is doing a wheelstand!!! Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/user/mrpitv WOW!!!
Wonderful stuff, I remember reading about those wheelstanding cars in the US magazines 40 years ago. Speaking of magazines, didn't Hotrod CARtoons build a Barracuda or similar fastback drag car that ran backwards? From long ago memory they put the body backwards on the ch***is as the aerodynamics were actually better than the other way round. (Well that was their excuse anyway) Cheers, Glen.
A cool video, the health & safety guys would be having kittens these days though (spoil sports!). I remember the Hemi Under Gl*** at Goodwood when he accidentally set the straw bales alight.
Glen, if CarToons actually did build such a vehicle, I never saw or heard of it. However, that doesn't mean that it didn't exist because your statement about the aerodynamics is most likly correct. C'mon, does anybody have the answer to this? If it did exist, who has photos?
When I was younger Hemi under gl*** & the Little red wagon came to Byron drag strip. It was one of the coolest thing my young eye ever saw.....
I featured one of the cars on my company's site a few months back: http://www.autotradercl***ics.com/a...e.xhtml?articleId=42316&conversationId=143453 One of the pictures shows the dual hand brake setup for turning the car while it's up on the back wheels. I think they used to call them "cutting brakes". I know some of the offroad guys use them for rock crawling. Of course using the rear brakes to steer means holding onto the wheel with one hand, but since the front wheels aren't doing much at the time I guess it's no big deal. I didn't realize how many versions there were of this car. I'm surprised there hasn't been a modern version built using the new Challenger body as a base. Sure it's the wrong brand, but it'd be cool to see the new Hemi sitting under the rear window. Huevos, big br*** huevos.
