I've got some nice pics, but I need to get a few minutes to transfer 'em from my camera.

Looking at these shots makes me just sigh and go misty eyed. Too bad the Midwest scene has to shut down so long for our danged horrific winters.

As I was pulling out of the show, I was thinking that Hunnert should be in the Spring instead of Fall -- you come out of it so stoked that you want to get out and drive old stuff every day instead of thinking about what to do in the winter!

  10. Bixmen: The full custom '55 Chevy belongs to Al Thompson of Sandwich, Il.

Al is a 64 year young hotrod and custom guy from day one. Al started this car twenty odd years ago and get this, it's a clone of a car he built and showed while living in Hawaii in '60-'61. Man, how many guys do ya know that build a original custom and then builds another to replicate it. [IMG]

Al was there with two more of his buddies w/ their cars and they just loved the show. They can't wait for next year.

    Hope this helps.

we have it in the Fall to avoid all the other compe***ion and better weather. Anyway, what's stopping you from driving all winter (unless you have a roadster)?? Salt and ice are nasty... but not actually on the ground most of the winter. Us Chicago area guys frequently meet up with scooterists at the vintage hot dog stand all winter long

Yeah, Hellfish, I figured those were the reasons. Makes good sense to have Pileup in the Fall -- I can't imagine it getting as much attention as it has if it were in August.

As for driving my truck in the winter, I do. I just don't like freezing my *** completely off (no heater), so once it gets past November maybe early December I leave it in the garage more. Go out in it maybe once every week or two in a typical 20-degree January.

Brrr. That's as much as I want to think about that **** right now!
