I love them, they are great cars, had one myself, didnt keep it, it was a barn find i cleaned up and sold. The sprints (V8s) sell quick, not so sure about the 6's but 64 is one of the best body styles. Put it up on egay, thats how I sold mine took 10 days and cleared a nice profit on it.

there are some crazy falcon guys out there...I bought a rusted crappy one a couple years ago...ended up selling it on ebay for over 2000...ened up it was a rare four speed, rare color and a Sprint Hardtop...also did anohter Sprint with a crazy tube chassi and big engine but had toruble selling it(it wasn't cheap) cause it wasn't a mustong...what...thats why its was cool...BECASUE IT WASN'T A MUSTONG....LOL

  4. Unless it's an oddball, the only fast way to get rid of one would be to push it to the curb and report it abandoned.

Since that's probably not an option, have a look on eBay and see if they're moving and for what price and that should give you an idea what to expect.

They're crap, especially the 64 2 door sedan six cyl, auto. You don't want to be seen dead with one, seriously.

Just out of the goodness of my heart, I'll give ya fifty bucks for it.

they're prety popular little cars , shouldn't be a problem getting rid of it ! while it won't comand as high of a price as a v8 hardtop or sprint it should bring decent money if its a clean solid car ! why not post it on the clasifieds here ?

Same reason I decided to go Falcon instead of a Mustang for a racecar. Seriously... everybody in thier mother races a Mustang in SVRA, HSR or VARA.

If it's a two door you should be able to sell it no problem. Is it a sedan like mine or a hardtop?

Great cars, I've had two a 65 four door and 61 two door with 3 on the tree and under 11000 miles when I got it. If there was one car I could get back it would be that one. Unfortunately they popularity is well on the rise and are no longer cheap and easy to score. I'd love to score a two door Falcon wagon. Shouldn't be hard to get rid of at all.

The funny thing is that under their skin early Mustangs are pretty much Falcons.

I'd say that it was a better kids car than a 53/54 Chebbie just because due to the Mustang connections hard parts for the Mustangs are readily available.
Don't get me wrong, I love 53/54 Chevys and pretty well grew up in the back seat of my grandparents 54 two door sedan but the economics of the thing swings towards the Falcon until he outgrows it.

  13. Although a Chevy guy, I bought a 64' 2-door post for my 16 year old grandson because it was simple and CHEAP FUN for a first time builder. Mustang parts just about bolt right on. Stiffened the body, mustang front end and disc brakes, 9" Ford and 5.OL. He's having the time of his life with it. And he can afford it! Now I'm seeing them on Pinks cause they're light. Could this be to the Ford guys what the Chevy II or Vega is to the Chevy guys?

Don't know what a hardtop weighs, but 2500lbs dry for me. 302 w/iron heads, 4spd Jerico, no interior.

It doesn't take much of a SBF to move that down the road.

Other factors that might help/hurt selling it:

Rust in toe panels, front floorpans, cowl, etc. The good news is that replacment panels for that stuff is available. Things like front torqueboxes and shocktowers are not and are different than early mustangs.

As 48chev said, all of the mustang suspension stuff is a straight swap.

Ditto on tffn.net, good source of Falcon tech.

I have a '64 Comet which is basically a bigger Falcon. Everyone else is right, the early Mustang stuff is a straight swap: brakes, axles, suspension, etc. A Falcon is a fairly light, reasonably priced car with a good following. I had a '53 Chevy and it was a beast compared to my little Comet. Both are cool cars, but I'd pick the Falcon over the Chevy for a teen.

Yes, they are cool, and a sleeper. When I ask for parts, I always say 1965 Mustang. Here is one of 7,734 Deluxe Rancheros Built in 1965, this one came from San Jose California on Feb 08, 1965. Oh yeah, I love the company they keep. :D

  17. Well, if you poke you can find them cheap, we have a pair - one buildable, one rotted bad although the body shell looks good - my buddy changes his mind on prices off and on but I'm sure the pair could be scored under $1000. Sold them once already to a guy who took the best hood and decklid and a carb and left a turning motor open to be rained in (gee thanks) and let us have them back. 60 and 62.

The 64-5-6 may be a little better car, who knows, no research.

They're cool rides, and lots of possibilites. I've seen them gasser style, custom, rodded in many ways and they make cool little rides. And ya, there are some serious falcon gurus and clubs out there. I like em best with a straight axle up front.

  19. I looked at an O/T (68) Falcon last week with just under 7K actual miles (documented) on it here in OKC. It had a 200 six with a C4 in it and came factory non-A/C and still has the radio delete plate on the dash. It was a very straight little car with one surface rust spot on the lower right quarter. The rust was so slight you could sand it clean and not need any filler. The asking price for this jewel was $4500.00

Just bought this 60 for my 16 year old daughter, she LOVES the little car....

My 19 year old son has a 64 2 door sedan he is in process of switching to a 289/302 right now...

As for me, I had a 64 4 door when I was too young to drive... living in a rural area, I drove it a lot anyway. Thinking back, I guess a Falcon was my first car...

Fact is, I have a thing for Falcons,,, to me they are so cool because they "are" utilitarian, functional, economy, and they look cool in their own way kind of like the horned rim glasses of the same era...

These cars will ALWAYS be one of my favorites...

Its a pretty clean little car. If I remeber right, didn't jacob completely go through the motor on it not too long ago?

  23. My neighbor just bought a 64 Falcon convertible with the 302. Clean, straight, complete, runs. Top works and doesn't leak. Nice little car.

  24. Had a few of them, Still have a 63 1/2 Convertible. 302 with a 5 speed
You won't have any trouble selling

so, ya see, the ChevyII is a follow-on to the Falcon.... Ford slipped the little 'Bird in while the other guys (Studebaker, Chevrolet, Plymouth, Rambler) were busy trying to update OLD designs or invent NEW ones... Stude and Rambler selling cars they'd had on the market for up to ten years and Chevy unveiling a rear-engined air cooled answer to VW, Plymouth bringing out a bullet-proof drivetrain in the worlds' homeliest car to date.... McNamara's Falcon/Comet duo were plain-jane tried and true technology and in a day when the public had been spoon-fed yards of chrome and fins 3 feet tall it was just the thing to have.

and the fact that the basic structure from 1960 lasted up through 1977 and the last of the Granada/Monarchs here, and up into the '90's in South America.... proof positive of a GOOD THING.

Falcons are for the most good cars and affordable to most.Like any old cars there are some that is totaly rusted out and those that have minor normal rust. It just depends on where it has been driven and how much care it has had. I have had several over the years and one we did a full custon on. If I was in the market for another car I would buy one in a heart beat,I have a 64 Ranchero and had a 65 full custom.

Rangoon Red club is thriving in the midwest. Lower it, 17 inch wheels and a injected ho 302 and 5 speed out of a mustang GT. ( that idea is not HAMB friendly)

I love them :). I have had many of them over the years and now only collect the converts, hardtops, rancheros, and 2 dr wagons. They tend to be a little higher in demand than sedans, especially if they are V8 and sprints.

Over the past decade, they have picked up quite the following. Check out http://www.tffn.net
