I have what I believe to be American (Daisey,Coke Bottle)? wheels that I wish to sell but can find no info on them. Yes, I searched but found only info on the one piece cast aluminum wheels. These have chrome steel rims/hoops with cast aluminum centers that are also chromed and attached somehow to a steel band that is then welded to the rim. These are 14x7 with unilug Ford/Chevy bolt pattern. Can anyone tell me the vintage, value or any other info?
    Thanks, Eddie

14 inch wheels have very little value these days. However, some of the guys running those daisy style wheels are really into them (including a buddy of mine).

The aluminum versions polish up nicely and have a long life and then can be redone as necessary.

The chrome ones typically are starting to rust, pit and peel and are goners once that happens.

Regardless of condition, I would think they would be worth anywhere from $15-$60 a piece on an auction site or at a swap meet.

If the unilugs are wallowed out at all, they are worth nothing...

    Good luck.

Those wheels are actually the American 200S. If you check out the American website, you may find info there.

The current 200S (commonly called Daisy's) are made of 2 piece aluminum. The originals were steel hoops and aluminum centers. They came out I think in the early 70's and were made into the 90's.
I sold a couple of sets recently for $200.00 for 4

The two-piece wheels are CP200S... the style is 200S and that usually refers to the one-piece cast versions. I've heard the CP stands for Chrome plated in their product line.

The 14's can be made into 15's by cutting them off the hoops and adding larger ones. That's what I did to mine.... not worth too much, and fairly heavy, but unique and a good looking wheel.

Sold mine for 50 dollars on ebay same size A pair

  9. they were good enough for the Two Lane Blacktop 55...........and if the chrome is bad and ya like the wheels, just have em replated..............

  10. They are originally about 1969 vintage. Early BOSS 302's used them but changed to Minilites later as 200S's were prone to cracking under racing stresses. Ford used the one piece cast alloy not the "composite" ones like yours.

The wheels on the Two Lane car were the one piece cast versions not the steel rim versions that Eddie has. Hemi got it right, the CP prefix stood for chrome plated.
As for having the wheels replated it is a little bit hard (like impossible) to plate a composite (steel/aluminum wheel). The only way would be to split the rims and centers and do the individual parts and them weld them back together-too much work for a wheel that is worth about what carcrazyjohn got for his.

I have collected many of this type of wheels through the years. Yea one of my favorites. The chrome steel and aluminum ones are not worth as much as the aluminum ones. I got some of the combo ones dirt cheap and could never sell them. Seems that no one wanted them.

I got a cracked Ford wheel, now I know how it got broke. :)

I bought a set of 15x10's on eBay for $75... bought a set of 14's for $60... took them to Stockton and had the 14's re-hooped to a 15x8 with my specified backspacing, and had the 10's cut loose and increased the backspacing to 4.75" to fit under my fenders... I got hooked up, but it ended up being fairly inexpensive to have exactly what I wanted..

They chuck them up in a big lathe and slice out the welds from the back side... easy. They balance and run out fine... If somebody can score some 14's for cheap they can turn them into whatever they want and still come out ahead price-wise..

Were there any markings on these wheels? Just bought a set of 15 X 10 one piece wheels in nice shape. No markings on them. I think Western Wheel made a very similar wheel. Would love to have a set of 15" skinnys to go with my 10" wide. John

Yes Western made some very similar to them. I sold a set of four a few years back and do have two 15x7 and two 15x8.5. Seems to me the Westerns are harder to find.
