What's causes a 12 volt coil converted from a 6 volt coil on a 1947 Ford V/8 to over heat and boil? please help me to correct this problem. Send me your ph.# and I'll call you back
    Thanks, bob,

Similer problem with mine although I have a 12v dynamo coil and regulator set up the coil always runs really hot and I sometimes lose ignition.

I have a good quality Lucas sport coil (lucas and quality in the same sentance - scary)

Yeah, ballast resistor. The coil is only supposed to see 8.5 volts or something.
