So the points on my Plymouth are pretty well shot and I'd like to buy a new set. However, neither Napa or O'reilly can get what I need (well, they can get it, but they seem to insist on getting me the wrong thing). Can someone tell me what the part number is? I'm on my fourth return now.

I looked in my old GUARNTEED PARTS cabinet & it says for 1950 Plymouth there are 2 possibilitys ... I am Out of both.

1939-1950 With out Dist # IAT it used an AL-8190 or AL-8190AS

1950-1955 WITH Dist # IAT it used an AL-9395 or AL-9395AS

You need to figure out if you have the Early Dist or the Late Dist in your car.

Once you determine which distributor you have, per De Soto's post above, you can actually get points and other tune-up parts from Rock Auto or even J.C. Whitney. Of course, you can also get those or anything else for old MoPars from Andy Bernbaum at oldmoparts.com

NAPA stores are also a good place to look. A lot of the old Mopar engines were used on commercial equipment, cranes, pumps, etc. I have had really good luck with them as a supplier.
